Health and safety
The Group’s 147,200 employees work every day to ensure the continuity of its activities: exploring new energy resources, transporting and distributing gas, producing electricity and operating industrial facilities for waste and water treatment. For this reason, the health and safety of all its employees, temporary staff and external service providers is a fundamental concern for ENGIE.
Manage and train
In addition to complying with regulations, the Group’s approach in this area is based on managing risks, applying the Health & Safety requirements of the Group Rules at all of its facilities, implementing a system of internal controls, and providing various training programs.
A position of excellence
The Group’s actions helped lower its accident rate to 7.6 in 2012, better than its goal for the year, which had been set at 7.9. In addition, the benchmark accident rate in each of the Group’s businesses places ENGIE in an excellent position among companies in its sector. In 2012, the Group launched a wide-scale, targeted action plan to reach an objective of zero fatal accidents by 2015.
