5 questions on the Cuanta Energia Tienes : Camila de Matos, Quai d’Orsay program intern in Belgium
The Graduate Programs team helped Brazilian chemical engineer Camila de Matos find an internship with GDF SUEZ in Laborelec, which has led to a full-time position in the renewable energy field in Chile.
“The main advantages of the Quai d’Orsay program are being able to adapt to a professional environment in another country, acquiring another language, and coming into contact with methods not yet used in Brazil.”
1. Why did you choose the Quai d’Orsay program
After finishing my chemical engineering studies I wanted to concentrate on green energy and was interested in the Renewable Energy course at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. The Quai d’Orsay program presented an attractive way to pursue this course because of the financial support offered by GDF SUEZ. This was a unique development opportunity that helped me grow.
2. What attracted you to GDF SUEZ in particular?
3. What role has the Graduate Programs team played?
The Graduate Programs team has been there right from the beginning. They supported my Quai d’Orsay application, and then when I arrived in Paris they presented all of the business lines and sectors to us where we might find work placements.
4. How did you secure the work placement with Laborelec?
Before applying I already had seven months of professional experience in France, and had studied for one year. The Graduate Programs team, as well as my appointed mentor Tim Vanroelen, played a very important role in helping me to find this internship in Laborelec, putting me in contact with people from different subsidiaries in France and Belgium. I then had telephone interviews and face-to-face meetings.
5. The internship then led to a full-time position in Chile. How?
Laborelec was opening an office in Chile by the end of the temporary contract that followed my internship, which was good timing. However, securing the position mainly came down to contacts and to the people I worked with in Laborelec, as well as through the Graduate Programs team. Thanks to the good feedbacks I had, my application to the Cuanta Energie Tienes was strongly recommended.
