ENGIE Lab Crigen is the Group research and operational expertise center dedicated to gas, new energy sources and emerging technologies. The center and its 350 staff are located at Plaine Saint-Denis and Alfortville in the Paris Region.

ENGIE Lab Crigen consolidates sales of its LNG software in China
These software packages – LNG MASTER®, Rollover Predictor® and LNG EXPERT® – model the thermodynamic behavior of LNG using recognized scientific approaches to address issues such as optimizing installation sizing, and improving the operational and safety management of facilities by including them directly in LNG terminal monitoring and control systems. The computational cores of these packages have been developed by ENGIE Lab Crigen, which also offers their users bespoke training and after-sales support.
The Smart Home showroom: a new addition to the smart technologies toolboxsmart
Officially opened on March 28, 2013, the Smart Home showroom presents Smart Energy solutions for the B2C market, showcasing the Group’s latest commercial packages and on-site demonstrators for home energy efficiency and comfort. It is structured around 3 key functions:
Non-Intrusive Appliance Load Monitoring (NIALM) solutions
The purpose of these technologies is to identify electrical loads at various points in a single installation by using a single point of physical data measurement (of current and voltage) within a building.
Following the persuasive initial results achieved in 2012, the Energy Services business line provided ENGIE Lab Crigen with the funding required to conduct a study on a larger building. The building concerned is a recently constructed office building in Lyon that will be home to the ENGIE Cylergie R&D Center from July 2013 onwards. The study will be conducted jointly by ENGIE Cylergie and ENGIE Lab Crigen. It will test the reliability offered by two of the most advanced solutions currently marketed (by startup companies Smart Impulse and Qualistéo) on a large building in operation. The study results will be used by Cofely Services in its bid to manage the site energy and maintenance contracts.
A detectable, connected polyethylene gas pipeline
GrDF has launched an experimental project to test ELIOT® technology, with support from ENGIE Lab Crigen.
ELIOT® (Equipement de Localisation et d’Identification des Ouvrages en Terre – Underground Infrastructure Location and Identification Equipment) is a technology developed by ENGIE Lab Crigen in conjunction with RYB, the specialist producer of polyethylene pipeline systems. It ensures site safety, prevents any accidental rupture of pipelines, and simplifies the process of monitoring the maintenance of gas, water supply and other networks. It can be used in any type of soil and in all environments up to a depth of 1.5 m, and is accurate to 1 cm. This major innovation paves the way for the utilities networks of tomorrow.
