ENGIE to join Global EVRT as sponsor of UAE Electric Vehicle Road Trip 2017

At the Intersolar Middle East Conference, global energy leader ENGIE and Global EVRT have agreed in principle to enter into a sponsorship agreement for the Emirates Electric Vehicle Road Trip (EVRT) Event in January 2017. The partnership underlines ENGIE’s ambition to become a local partner for Sustainable and Vibrant Cities and Regions.

ENGIE demonstrates its commitment to the energy transition by putting its innovation capabilities to work for local authorities and customers in their pursuit of a new, greener vision for their communities and businesses.

ENGIE has been a well-established utility provider in the GCC for 20 years with a portfolio of 30 GW power capacity and 5.5 million m3/day water capacity. However, the energy industry is undergoing a profound and lasting transformation and, with this evolution in mind, ENGIE is committed to leading the energy transition through a variety of innovative initiatives and partnerships.

As part of its strategy, ENGIE is globally speeding up the deployment of proven efficiency services and smart digital solutions for its customers, including cities. “Cities represent 54% of the world’s population today and are the places where global challenges in demographics, natural resources, and climate play out,” says Florence Fontani, Director of Strategy, Communications & ESR at ENGIE Middle East, South & Central Asia and Turkey.

To help cities and regions transform themselves into sustainable communities, ENGIE deploys technologies as a precise response to urban challenges, including city planning, responsible use of resources, energy consumption and green mobility. “ENGIE’s support to the UAE’s first electric vehicle road trip illustrates our ambition to become the regional partner for sustainable urban development” underlines Florence Fontani.

ENGIE’s solutions for a greener mobility include urban planning advisory services, smart parking and transportation systems, charging solutions for electric vehicles, managing systems for public transport, innovative solutions like car sharing, smart parking, etc.

With these new service offers, ENGIE – who has been recently confirmed as the GCC’s leading power and water provider – demonstrates its commitment to the energy transition by putting its innovation capabilities to work for local authorities and customers in their pursuit of a new, greener vision for their communities and businesses.
