ENGIE has signed a letter of intent with Unibail Rodamco under which the Group will help the real estate operator to reduce its carbon footprint

ENGIE and Unibail Rodamco have signed a letter of intent with the aim of working together to develop innovative low-carbon solutions for its existing locations and new Unibail Rodamco shopping center and office development projects in Europe.

The partnership will focus particularly on decentralized renewables, energy efficiency, smart building technology and sustainable mobility.

This strategic partnership between Europe's leading commercial real estate operator and a global player in the energy transition is built around the three key energy industry trends of carbon reduction, decentralized generation and digitalization.

An initial innovation-based collaboration between ENGIE and Unibail Rodamco was launched in June at the Viva Technology fair. ENGIE and Unibail Rodamco have since invited the submission of projects by startups and SMEs to identify innovative solutions for gathering and analyzing energy consumption data for large shopping centers for the purposes of feedback and effective energy management.

ENGIE is also working alongside Unibail Rodamco across its full range of specialist expertise, from energy supply to design and installation, operation and maintenance, performance commitments, user support and financing.

Current collaborations include ENGIE's management of an Energy Performance Contract for the Tour Ariane office tower in La Défense, the provision of air conditioning for the Forum des Halles and the Carrousel du Louvre shopping centers by its subsidiary company Climespace, and the installation of a high-performance new-generation heating plant at the Le Bourget exhibition center, specially designed for the COP21 climate conference.
