Social inclusion and education through football

In ENGIE’s view, sport is a wonderful medium for social inclusion, education, and integration for the most disadvantaged population groups. Thanks to its educational and social role, football can combat various forms of exclusion and reduce inequalities. The Group supports a wide range of initiatives.

  • Brazil 2014 : The Match of Their Dreams

Originated by the ENGIE corporate foundation, ‘The Match of Their Dreams’ gave 15 children at the Académie Bernard Diomède the opportunity to travel to Brazil and meet their counterparts at the Fondation Gol de Letra.

  • ENGIE supports "Un but pour l’emploi, un but pour la vie" with FACE

This initiative, which was founded by the FFF and ENGIE in 2005, aims to promote diversity and equal opportunities, and combat discrimination in disadvantaged neighborhoods. It benefits from the support of the "Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion" (FACE), which encourages the re-integration of young jobseekers through football.

  • ENGIE supports the Académie Bernard Diomède

The academy is currently home to around fifty young footballers aged between 11 and 16, in order to encourage their academic inclusion while enabling them to indulge their passion for football. The program promotes values like making an effort, team spirit, respect for rules, and ambition, and helps the children to develop.

  • ENGIE supports Belgium’s largest panna football competition

ENGIE Street Heroes (ESH) is a panna football competition. Panna is one-on-one street football, and young people in various towns in the regions of Wallonia and Flanders can enter the events free of charge. Electrabel works alongside the organizers by devoting its efforts to encouraging the social reintegration of disadvantaged young people. The project promotes interaction and respect between the players, social solidarity, tolerance, fair play and mutual respect.
