What You Can Expect
As our Sales Originator - Giants, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our customer base with a focus on large commercial and industrial (C&I) customers who seek bespoke risk management capabilities in addition to traditional retail supply services. Your primary responsibilities will involve building a pipeline of customers, developing and proposing structured offerings, and negotiating transactions to successful execution. In this role, you will communicate ENGIE’s energy transition story, benefits, and key attributes of potential product offerings to a sophisticated customer base by utilize your planning, communication, and development skills. You will also represent ENGIE at conferences, client events and presentations to create valuable transaction opportunities for the business. This position sits in Houston, TX reporting to the Commercial Lead – Giants.
- Build Customer Relationships: Cultivate and manage relationships with Giant customers (100,000 MWHs+), focusing on those with centralized energy management and a need for risk/load management services, particularly in ERCOT and PJM markets
- Develop Strategic Plans: Create and implement strategies to approach, capture, and grow key customers, identifying and seizing market opportunities
- Pursue Deal Opportunities: Target large energy consumers for retail opportunities, emphasizing risk management, demand response, and renewable solutions
- Manage Proposal Processes: Oversee RFP responses, bid preparation, and competitive analysis, coordinating with internal teams for effective execution
- Lead Negotiations and Approvals: Negotiate deals, secure approvals, and communicate complex concepts to ensure successful transactions and strong stakeholder relationships
What You’ll Bring
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in which you have learned general business practices, contract negotiations, business-to-business sales techniques, and quantitative or financial skills
- A minimum 10 years of experience in the energy industry with five+ years of experience in retail or wholesale power origination
- You have a proven track record of developing and expanding valuable relationships with energy clients
- You are results-oriented, with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with various cross-functional teams
- You possess in-depth knowledge of U.S electric commodity markets, retail and wholesale transaction structures, renewable technologies, and corporate energy management practices
- You are flexible with strong sales experience, excellent networking, leadership, negotiation, and time management skills
- You have superior verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail and a record of success in closing complex, structured transactions
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $146,300 – $224,135 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus structure.
