"We launched this event last year, it has already proved incredibly successful, and we intend this week to be even more important and impressive." It was with huge enthusiasm that ENGIE CEO Isabelle Kocher opened the second Innovation Week event at Group head office. The week ahead looks nothing less than thrilling, with more than 150 events in some 25 countries, all focused on the same theme of innovation in the energy industry.

Day 1 events

Day 1 got off to a flying start with a succession of events all over the world:

  • Morning in Paris saw the first innovation round table session, which, in the words of its illustrious chairman, the economist and writer, Erik Orsenna "began with the practical." Its central theme was innovation as the enabler of corporate performance. Another round table session was hosted in Rennes on the subject of connected buildings.
  • In Brussels, a number of conferences were hosted in the offices of ENGIE to launch the week.
  • In Metz, the week kicked off with the Smart City Hackathon hosted by ENGIE in partnership with Grand Est Numérique and Mines Nancy. Participants had 48 hours in which to create a new digital concept useful to society as a whole! Another marathon was held in Beijing, China, to design an innovative business.
  • At Saint-Gilles-Croix-De-Vie in France, some of the most innovative electric vehicles yet developed came together to promote green mobility as part of the Vendée Energie Tour.
  • Two events were held in the UK. In Birmingham, dozens of people met to discuss innovation issues, while in Cambridge, some of the energy industry's latest technological innovations were showcased on exhibition stands.
  • Dubai hosted a symposium to examine the relationship between innovation and sustainability.
  • In Brazil, it was Innovation Day in Rio de Janeiro, with a packed program of conferences designed for all audiences.
