Stage two of the GC32 Racing Tour was fought out in the waters off the Italian island of Sardinia between June 28 and July 1. Sébastien Rogues and his crew finished fifth overall. The result was slightly disappointing for Team ENGIE, but the consolation of finishing third in the provisional overall classification for the tour is motivating the crew more strongly than ever.
Having finished fourth in the first stage on Lake Garda in Italy (May 11-14), Team ENGIE came fifth overall in stage two at Villasimius. With five different winners of the ten races fought out in this stage, the bar was raised again for the remainder of this race circuit for foiling catamarans!
The consolation of this stage was the third-place ranking of Team ENGIE in the GC32 Racing Tour overall classification. With nine points, the crew is three points behind Team Argo (USA) and six behind Realteam (Switzerland), but one point ahead of three impressive adversaries Mamma Aiuto (Japan), Armin Strom (Switzerland) and Movistar (Spain).
The next stage, which begins in Palma de Mallorca, Spain at the beginning of August, will give Sébastien Rogues and his crew the opportunity to defend their podium place and set the bar even higher by winning the maximum number of races.
“This provisional podium place is a good consolation prize. We played our joker on this stage, so from now on we have to get everything right. We’re now analyzing everything to make sure that we arrive stronger in Palma,” said the ENGIE skipper.
