ENGIE acquired 7 new units producing biogaz in Europe: four new plants in<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/en.newsroom.engie.com\/news\/engie-acquires-ixora-energy-ltd-and-enlarges-its-biomethane-presence-in-europe-cdab-314df.html\">England<\/a>, two in the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.com\/en\/explore\/news\/engie-acquires-two-biomethane-production-units-in-the-netherlands\/\">Netherlands<\/a>, and now one in Belgium. In parallel, ENGIE works on improving its plant\u2019s performance and developing innovations such as<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.com\/en\/explore\/explainer\/engie-leverages-startups-to-innovate-in-biogas\/\">biomethane liquefaction<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 which will be deployed on its various European sites.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-engie-gradient title-6\">A first for biomethane in Belgium<\/h2>\n<p>In Belgium, the newly acquired plant in the Bree region\u2014previously generating heat and electricity for local needs since 2013\u2014will be the first in the country to convert to injecting biomethane into the local gas network. From October 2024, it will begin feeding biomethane into the regional gas grid.<\/p>\n<p>With an annual production capacity of 68 GWh, the site will generate enough energy to supply around 6,000
