During the 2022 energy crisis, European storage facilities &#8211; filled to more than 90% &#8211; played a decisive role in preventing supply shortages and limiting market disruption.<\/p>\n<p>In France, the regional density of the storage network and the scale of available capacity ensure gas availability even during supply chain tensions. It plays a key role in securing natural gas supply for the Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes region, with a capacity equivalent to the annual consumption of the Lyon metropolitan area. Continuously evolving, the site enhances its operational and environmental performance through the creation of new caverns and the modernisation of existing facilities. The objective was to assess the behaviour of both the cavern and the hydrogen under different operating profiles representative of the stresses encountered under commercial operating conditions. In Manosque, two caverns will be converted to hydrogen and subjected to 100 injection and withdrawal cycles to assess process performance and safety. A similar development is being studied in Harsefeld, Germany. Three exclusive exploration permits have been granted: Nord-Mulhouse, Nancy and Est S\u00e9lestat. These permits will enable the characterisation of salt layers (geometry, depth and quality) in preparation for future industrial-scale storage capacity.                <\/p>\n            \n
