ENGIE stands united with Lebanon

By ENGIE - 30 September 2020 - 19:25

ENGIE and its Foundation affirm their commitment to the people of Lebanon through concrete actions to help schools and orphanages in Beirut and are supporting the “Unis Pour Le Liban” charity concert, being held on Thursday October 1 at the Olympia concert hall in Paris.

As long-established players in the region with the ENGIE Middle-East, South & Central Asia and Turkey (MESCAT) Business Unit, we are providing tangible support to Lebanon, shaken by the devastating explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4. The ENGIE Foundation funded an evaluation mission by the in-house NGO, Energy Assistance France, conducted in Lebanon by two of the group's employees from September 8 to 11. The mission identified schools and orphanages that the Foundation will support via electricity supply or energy system improvement projects.

The ENGIE Foundation has been rallying to respond to emergencies and humanitarian crises for 28 years”, explains its General Delegate Philippe Peyrat. “That’s why, following the explosions in Beirut, the ENGIE Foundation is supporting the United for Lebanon charity concert, as well as the rebuilding of the city alongside its in-house NGO, Energy Assistance France.

As well as our commitment on the ground to support the people of Lebanon, we are also a partner in the big #UnisPourLeLiban charity concert being held on Thursday October 1.

This unique fundraising event will be staged at the iconic Olympia venue in Paris. Hosted by Nagui and Léa Salamé, it will be broadcast live on the France 2 TV channel and France Inter radio, and live-streamed on francetvinfo.fr to raise money that will then be donated in full to the Lebanese Red Cross. Sponsored by the famous Franco-Lebanese jazz trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, the event will unite dozens of French and international singers and musicians: Sting, Yannick Noah, Matthieu Chedid, Mika, Patrick Bruel, and more.

The event will be rebroadcast on TV5 Monde on October 2nd from 8:55 pm.

Determined to fulfil our societal role and true to our "raison d’être” to have a positive impact on people and the planet, we are fully committed to supporting the people of Lebanon.
