IT & DIGITAL AT ENGIE
Led by Biljana Kaitovic, Executive Vice-President in charge of IT & Digital, the IT & Digital function contributes to enabling a differentiation power for competitiveness and growth. With more than 3800 people internally, ENGIE’s IT & Digital function is the second biggest of the Group and offers a wide range of positions (cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, architecture, data science, software development…). Working for ENGIE is a way to play your part in the energy transition and help the Group and our customers to reach net carbon emission by 2045.
Information Technology at ENGIE
Under the leadership of the Group CTO, ENGIE has been going through a significant transformation program aiming at deploying global IT Solutions for employees and businesses, leading to a strong IT infrastructure foundation, with the mobilization of more than 200 local IT teams in all geographies of the Group. It started first with unifying the identity and authentication system (Okta), where more than 150,000 employees were deployed in less than six months. Then it was followed by a deployment of a global collaboration platform, based on Microsoft Office 365, a modern network backbone and security solutions like Zscaler and Crowdstrike, etc.
Since this first success, the cloud first strategy has been continuously transforming the IT landscape to this day. From institutional websites and digital platforms to ERP systems or even the ENGIE global software-defined network, the creation of cloud-native solutions and move to Cloud initiatives resulted in a doubling y-o-y of the hyperscaler’s consumption four years in a row. This major transformation of group IT landscape allowed a fast ramp up of skills and competencies on modern technologies for ENGIE people (upskilling) and required the definition of a new robust framework of standards and controls.
As part of ENGIE’s new Target Operating Model, aiming from a more integrated industrial company, the Group CTO is enforcing a formal reporting line with all IT staff (matrixed organization) and has established an IT Architecture and Technology Management Team comprised of Regional CTOs, representative CTOs from the Global Business Units, and senior technology leaders from the ENGIE HQ teams:
