What You Can Expect

As our Retail Power Portfolio Management Advisor, you will play a pivotal, cross-functional role by assisting Senior Portfolio Managers with all aspects of their daily responsibilities while also serving as the project lead for Portfolio Management, with a focus on all Northeast deregulated power regions, including PJM, NEPOOL, NYISO, and MISO. The PM Advisor will assist in identifying risks, recommending hedge strategies, and taking direct action to hedge and manage all price and volume risk exposures inherit in retail power business. In collaboration with other key members of the PM Team, the PM Advisor will share responsibility in formulating forward price curves for all COGS components of full- requirements products and continuous calibration of costing formulas and assumptions to ensure Engie remains competitive in retail space, and share accountability to meet Sales goals. The PM Advisor will serve as project lead for new product developments, tool enhancements, reporting improvements, and other longer-term projects. The PM Advisor will also interact with other internal teams to meet Engie Resources’ objectives, including Sales, Business Development, Origination, Structuring, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, Marketing, and Digital teams. This position is located in Houston TX and reports to Director of Portfolio Management.

 

  • You manage and trade financial and physical instruments—including Energy, Capacity, RECs, Ancillaries, and Power Options—while overseeing risk exposure and profitability through detailed portfolio management and analysis
  • You support new product development and market competitiveness by researching complex business problems, validating forecasts, and contributing to forward price curve calibration, revenue aggregation, and ISO settlement reviews
  • You collaborate across functional teams to enhance system platforms, produce actionable insights, and present market fundamentals to internal and external stakeholders, optimizing portfolio profitability and risk management

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline such as Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics or Computer Science
  • A minimum seven (7) years of work experience, with at least five (5) years of experience in the retail or wholesale power industry
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics to diverse audiences, including senior leadership
  • You are highly proficient in MS Excel and experienced in managing big data through tools such as VBA, SQL, Power Query, and Power BI
  • You are knowledgeable in energy market fundamentals, customer usage patterns, and pricing methodologies, with an understanding of retail power portfolio management and full requirements cost components
  • You possess strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think logically, plan effectively, and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • You have a high level of attention to detail and an understanding of options and hedging practices to manage retail power shape and swing risk

 

Additional Details

  • This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule of both in-office and work-from-home days

Compensation

Salary Range: $117,600 – $157,500 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

The EM UK SLT focuses on client-centric approaches, digital advancement, and fostering collaboration within the team and across Engie.

 

Main Activities

Lead the team enabling them to deliver:

  • Portfolio Management
    • Asset Representation using GEMS ETRM system, OT, to enable the Asset Owner to understand forecast expected revenues and running regimes
    • Provide analysis and guidance to Asset Owner on appropriate Risk Management strategies, executing agreed hedges
    • Minimise impact of planned outages through engagement and collaboration with Asset Operations teams
    • Provide targeted performance and valuation reporting to the Asset Owner to enable them to understand their asset in the market context
    • Conduct valuation and sensitivity studies to support major (and minor) asset investments
    • Shareholder engagement where asset is held in a JV
    • Collaborate with the UK Regulatory team to support market design and advocacy work, through provision of analysis, expertise and worked up consultation responses
  • Market Analysis
    • Drive UK assumptions that feed into Group Scenario modelling
    • Develop and maintain local and integrated fundamental market models that enable deeper understanding of Group Scenarios
    • Provision of market scenarios to support asset investment and M&A activity in the UK
    • Active support of Due Diligence activity in M&A transactions
    • Develop and maintain local unit commitment models, scrutinising results
    • Horizon Scanning. Proactive identification and assessment of new business opportunities for GEMS and GBUs in the UK
    • Feeding Energy Scan (Engie’s external market data platform) with UK specific content
    • Ensure access to the right data from the right providers stored in the right location
  • Quantitative Research and Modelling
    • Support traders, originators and structurers through delivery of innovative quantitative analysis
    • Design and build robust quantitative tools that assist front Officers in pricing standard products
    • Deliver ad hoc tactical solutions to Front Officers as well as developing new pricers in official pricing library.
    • Deliver major strategic projects that incorporate techniques such as Machine Learning, for example development of trading Algos
    • Ensure best coding practices are embedded within the team
  • Structuration
    • Drive the strategy for implementation of structured products in the UK

 

Interaction scope:

EM UK Team. As one of about 20 Business Platforms of GEMS globally, EM UK comprises around 60 GEMSers of which about 10 are in the PAS team. As Head of PAS you will interact across all the teams from Front Office to Finance, IT to Risk Management.

 

GEMS Expertise Centres. GEMS operates global Expertise Centres which brings together communities of like-minded GEMSers that focus on similar problems in different Business Platforms around the world. MAIN ACTIVITIES

 

Integrating the quantitative analyst team is a huge opportunity for you to work on financial modeling and IT development:

  • Financial modeling: Stochastic pricing models, XVA, VaR, SVaR, CVaR,…
  • IT development: C#, python, and big data (Amazon web service, Dataiku)

 

PRICING MODEL VALIDATION

 

  • Be in direct contact with traders, and pricing model designers to understand derivatives, and stochastic pricing models ;
  • Challenge theoretical model design and measuring model risk ;
  • Develop in C# validated stochastic models ;
  • Develop in C# alternative stochastic models.

 

MARKET AND CREDIT RISK MODEL DESIGN

 

  • XVA, VaR, SVaR, and CVaR, model designer ;

This role involves assisting with all aspects of treasury for the Energy Supply UK division, covering six legal entities. About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Risk Analyst to join our Risk & Internal Control Team within the Energy Supply Business Platform of ENGIE Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) in Leeds. This role involves supporting the Senior Credit Risk Analyst in managing all aspects of the Credit Risk function, including processing large counterparty credit applications and liaising with external credit insurers.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Process credit applications using a custom credit scorecard (Experian Business IQ).
  • Liaise with external credit insurers and manage a portfolio with defined limits up to £2bn.
  • Communicate with the Energy Supply Sales department on topics such as bank guarantees, letters of credit, and security deposits.

Context:

 

FinOps Gas is the department providing support to Gas business Platform (the assets concerned are in particular Long Term Gas Contract, Transport & Storage capacities, Sales to internal marketer). FinOps Gas is made up of 3 teams :

  • Middle Office/Business control gas is in charge of  PnL  Production, control and analysis

&  budget building

  • Product control : is in charge of booking of controlling the consistency between the booking, the contractual documents and the invoicing elements.
  • Accounting : guarantees the quality of the data feeding the accounting systems.

 

The opening position is within the Middle Office/ Business control gas team.

Your role will consist in producing, controlling and analyzing the daily and monthly reporting of the economic P&L of the Gas business platforms and contributing to the improvement/automation of processes in interaction with the other FinOPs Gas teams, gas business platforms and our IT partner

  • Involvement/Contribution in process automation
  • Ensure the existence of process documentation and their update

 

 

Hard skills:

 

  • High level of comfort with the digital tools Outlook/Team/Excel
  • Analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a hands-on approach
  • Ability to optimize the processes and interact with IT teams to propose system evolutions
  • A good knowledge of gas business and associated trading strategies will be a plus
  • Knowledge/or interest of IT tools such as PowerBI or Python will be a plus

Within GEMS, ENGIE Global Markets (EGM), is a regulated banking entity and ENGIE group energy trading platform.

EGM is a regulated banking entity and a recognized commodity trading specialist with 20 years of presence on energy markets worldwide.

 

Context:

As part of the EGM Credit Risk Analysts team, we are assessing the creditworthiness of GEM’s counterparts and managing the limits accordingly. The economic environment is also key and needs also to be followed.

 

Role:

 

Portfolio Credit Risk management

· Financial analysis (financial statements, business sector, peers…) and rating of EGM existing counterparties portfolio

· Proactive management of the credit limits in function of customers risk profile and business evolution

· Contract negotiation with customers in collaboration with Front Office and Legal department

· On-boarding of new customers

· Presentation of credit risk analysis to Risk Management and to Committees.

· Development of customer relationship before contract signing: analysis of Front Office’s need, study of the prospect’s profile (financials, business and regulatory environment,…).

· Follow-up and understanding of risk indicators (MtM, CVaR, RCM, stress tests …)

 

 

Digitalization

· Together with Credit Reporting team and IT support work on development of existing and introduction of new IT tools facilitating credit risk management.

 

 

Contribute to the team duty tasks

· Daily report production and answer to urgent business interests (check impact of deal interest on current exposure, and give authorization or not to trade).
