What You Can Expect

As our Project Developer, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities on projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada. Your daily task will include working on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting, public and stakeholder engagement, public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support. You will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind , solar and storage project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America. This role offers flexibility in location, with options in either Santa Barbara, CA, Chicago, IL Denver, CO or Houston, TX.

 

The Development Associates and Project Developers will support the development team in order to:

  • Manage and actively drive development activities of utility-scale solar , wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of  environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with SMEs
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, technologies, etc.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and AHJ submittals and interactions on local, state, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project M&A discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in which you complted courses in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience, preferably in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • You are detail-oriented individual who will proactively pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • You are highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential offtakers, government officials, and corporate leaders
  • Results-oriented professional with the ability to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to remote project locations up to 25-30% of time. Need to travel will fluctuate depending on project stage

Compensation

Asset Registration Advisor

What You Can Expect

The Asset Registration Advisor’s main responsibility is to register large-scale, wind, solar, and battery storage, new projects with local and state government, various regulatory agencies, and Independent System Operators (ISOs). This application process involves gaining access to the ISO registration systems and portals via digital certificates provided by an ENGIE User System Administrator (USA). You'll be tasked with acquiring registration requirements, by reading and researching agreements, while communicating with various entities in order to register our renewable assets to the proper regulatory entity. You will be responsible for attending weekly calls to provide project managers and cross-functional teams with updates on registration status and progress. Guided by the Asset Registration Sr. Advisor, and other project managers, you'll follow procedures for submitting applications to the ISO and state regulatory agencies, receiving and providing additional information as needed to complete the registration process. You'll also register and qualify our renewable energy sites, schedule testing with third parties, and submit testing reports to the ISO. Monitoring the project’s testing for compliance and making recommendations for corrective actions, if necessary, will be also part of your role.

 

  • After initial registration is complete, you'll maintain project updates, submit monthly reports to regulatory authorities, and submit completion orders and route information to ENGIE’s operations team.
  • You'll also register qualified renewable facilities for any Renewable Energy Credit (REC) programs they may qualify with the designated ISO and state agency. Next, during the commissioning period, all projects must be meticulously tested.
  • You will also monitor and assist with these commissioning efforts.   
  • You will assist with providing test results to the designated ISO and reporting, in a timely manner, when test results are available.  
  • You will also assist in re-scheduling any re-test and provide rapid  return.
  • Your work will be based out of the Houston office with a hybrid work schedule. While testing is primarily done virtually, occasional site visits may be required quarterly to ensure production meets application requirements and to familiarize yourself with project progress.
  • Strong communication is essential for professionally interacting with external regulatory agencies, as well as senior leadership and management, regarding various project information

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum Associate Degree or 2 year technical certificate where you have had exposure to industrial terminology and have gained technical analytical skills

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working with regulatory agencies, public utility commissions (PUC) or Independent System Operators (ISOs) such as: MISO, ERCOT, PJM, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, CAISO and EISO
  • Previous energy industry scheduling experience where you have had to meet strict deadlines following particular guidelines
  • Experience with cloud applications, such as: SharePoint, Procore, in a project environment
  • Experience with project tools such as MS Teams and MS Project

Compensation

What You Can Expect

As a Project Development Advisor, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities related to projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale solar assets across the United States. You will work on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting including community and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) outreach and public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support. You will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind, solar and storage project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America.

 

  • Manage and actively drive development activities of utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, technologies, etc.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and AHJ submittals and interactions on local, state, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project Merger & Acquisition (M&A) discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Represent ENGIE at industry advocacy groups and national renewable energy events as attendee, speaker, panelist, and renewable energy leader

 

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics
  • A minimum 7 years related experience in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • Understanding of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) in the Southwest, Mountain West US regions
  • Detail-oriented individual who will proactively pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies
  • The ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential off takers, government officials, and corporate leaders
  • Ability to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in an environment with a high level of deliverables

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000 – $172,500 USD annually
