What You Can Expect

As the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Compliance Advisor within ENGIE North America’s Flexible Generation (FlexGen) Business Unit, your role involves ensuring that the company’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets across the USA comply with NERC Standards. Additionally, you'll lead the coordination, preparation, and submission of compliance reports to NERC to demonstrate regulatory alignment.

 

Reporting to the Asset Management Manager, your primary duties encompass:

 

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on NERC compliance requirements throughout BESS project lifecycle, focusing on planning, commissioning, and operational stages
  • Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and procedures ensuring alignment with NERC standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assess project documents, designs, and plans for compliance with NERC standards
  • Monitor and audit BESS operations to ensure ongoing compliance with NERC regulations
  • Prepare and submit reports to NERC, documenting compliance efforts and findings
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams and operational staff on NERC compliance requirements and best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry partners to address compliance issues and ensure alignment with regulatory standards

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in NERC compliance; experience with BESS or Solar projects is preferred
  • Deep understanding of NERC standards and regulations

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $128,800 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

As the Project Manager, Advisor, based in Houston, TX you will plan and lead projects using a multi-disciplinary team to design, construct, and place into operation Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities. The Project Manager will use their independent judgment and interpersonal skills to deliver projects that meet the business case requirements and achieve the approved investment goals. The Project Manager takes full accountability to deliver assigned projects within scope, schedule, and budget including taking preemptive and corrective actions as required.  The Project Manager will also routinely report on project progress to executive management, forecast project outcomes, and control and solicit approval of changes to the project’s scope, schedule, and budget.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Project Delivery, your primary duties encompass:

  • Provides project management for projects in development through construction
  • Prepares a delivery plan (including schedule) for specific projects considering safety, health, environmental, permit, commercial, design, contracting and construction requirements
  • Implements and tracks the project contracting strategy with the support of the Contract Management team
  • Creates and tracks the project budget to enable accurate cost tracking and forecasting of project costs
  • Ensures that all ENGIE safety requirements are properly included in project documents, plans, and practices. Leads and exhibits a high level of safety awareness and concern
  • Manages all project stakeholder communications and requirements including periodic reporting and change management and communication
  • Reviews and approves all project invoices and expenses, complying with Company policy, to assure contract payments are processed for timely payment with proper cost account coding

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or related technical discipline required
  • Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience which includes seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in physical/construction project management

What You Can Expect

As the Process Safety Advisor, located in Houston, TX, you will contribute to the development and implementation of a Health and Safety (H&S) Management System. This system will incorporate standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures, and processes (4Ps) for ENGIE's North America Flexible Generation (FlexGen). Your role will emphasize supporting the FlexGen Business Development, Project Delivery, and Operations teams in all facets of Process Safety Management.

 

Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) your primary duties encompass:

  • Ensure that Process Safety Principles and best practices are implemented early in the design phase of each project
  • Define process safety deliverables required for the scope of the project and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare the safety related scope of work for the engineering contractors for the feasibility engineering
  • Oversee process safety studies (generally Safety Concept and Consequence Modeling)
  • Proactively participate in studies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, SIL) and project technical reviews, monitor, follow up on, and assess agreed recommendations to ensure full implementation
  • Interpret all regulatory requirements and ensure that the appropriate studies are identified and developed during the project phases in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the client / partner in terms of permitting support and interfaces in relation with safety aspects
  • Undertake risk assessment to determine whether safeguards are adequate to mitigate hazards (SIL, LOPA, Fault Tree etc.)
  • Prepare and evaluate the HSE prequalification questionnaires and to support the bid assessment processes
  • Prepare the safety aspects of Request For Quotes (RFP)
  • Track progress on projects ensuring that deliverables are undertaken in a timely manner and at the required quality
  • Interpret and make recommendations based on findings of Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Fire and Explosion studies or similar to ensure that the findings can meet the requirement by the regulatory authorities of the country
  • Ensure that a risk based approach is undertaken to the development of the project
  • Produce/validate studies performed prior to submission to authorities for the permitting process

 

 

  • Project Transversal support (Post FID)
  • Oversight of the EPC Contractors / Owner engineers
  • Liaison with the partners / clients / external stakeholders
  • Prepare, direct or participate in HSE process and safety studies + risk assessments undertaken for commissioning, start up and operation of the projects

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in design, process safety, construction and/or operations in a corporate environment or affiliate within the energy or process industry

What You Can Expect

As the Remote Operations Control Center “ROCC” Operator II, based in Houston, TX, you will be responsible for 24 x 7 remote operations and monitoring of a rapidly growing standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across the US for current Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) markets. This is an engaged role that will carry out planned maintenance remotely and alert the field operations to implement maintenance of issues needing attention that have flagged overnight.

 

Every day this role carries three major components of responsibility the ROCC will be responsible for:

 

  • Safety, where you carry out check in / check out procedure of field staff for all operating assets, and interact with SCADA to engage/disengage equipment (site breakers, ESS units, etc.), and monitor SCADA and internal automated alerting tools for severe alarms / warnings and engage emergency protocols
  • Grid-facing, monitor voltage profile of transmission level BESS assets and interact with transmission and grid operators, coordinate outage scheduling and input to Transmission Distribution Service Provider and Independent Systems Operators “TDSP/ISO” interfaces, coordinate test request submission and approval with grid operators, and coordinate real-time asset testing during commissioning of upcoming facilities
  • Remote Asset Operations - Coordinate unit restoration with Field Service personnel, carry out planned maintenance activities (state of charge calibration, voltage balancing, and testing) remotely via equipment SCADA platforms, and perform first line troubleshooting of unplanned reactive maintenance

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum high school diploma, or two (2) year diploma/certificate in a technical program (Electrical or Instrumentation controls), other degrees/certificates may be considered
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in remote operations and control in either ROCC or Field equivalent experience in the power industry, or equivalent experience in control room operations in the power/energy/oil & gas, or military equivalent experience in procedure adherence, control rooms operations and monitoring the ships/submarines/or aircraft control room/operations
  • Experience with HSE protocols
  • Experience with SCADA interfaces

What You Can Expect

As the Project Coordinator Analyst II, based in Houston, TX you will be a member of our Project Management Office (PMO) team.  You will work as a vital member of our project teams supporting Project Managers in preparing project reports, project planning, and analyzing information to support the ongoing delivery of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.  In addition, as part of the PMO team, the Project Coordinator will be involved in developing document templates, monitoring ongoing projects against key performance indicators (KPIs), developing and maintaining cost data, and assisting with the development of lessons learned on projects. This is an entry level project management role and successful candidates will aspire to become Project Managers for physical construction of BESS and other renewable energy assets.

 

Reporting to the Project Management Office (PMO) Leader, your primary duties encompass:

  • Provides project management for projects in development through construction
  • Assists Project Managers with preparation of a delivery plan (including schedule) for specific projects considering safety, health, environmental, permit, commercial, design, contracting and construction requirements
  • Helps the Project Manager track the project budget to enable accurate cost tracking and forecasting of project costs
  • Assists the Project Manager by ensuring that all ENGIE safety requirements are properly included in project documents and plans
  • Assists with project stakeholder communications including periodic reporting and change management and communication
  • Assists with reviews and approvals of project invoices and expenses to assure contract payments are processed for timely payment with proper cost account coding
  • Helps monitor project cash flow requirements to properly schedule project funding requirements for internal or third-party financial participation
  • Helps measure project performance relying on KPI’s for engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and start-up to report monthly, identifying variances and taking corrective actions to achieve project objectives
  • Controls the project scope and delivery plan developing appropriate change requests for approval by applicable stakeholders
  • Closes all supplier contracts associated with the project delivery including settlement of claims with support from assigned Contract Management staff
  • Assists with preparation of final Lessons Learned reports as a reference document for future projects
  • Within the PMO, executes assignments relative to establishing document templates, analyzing project costs, schedule, and performance
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or a related technical discipline, with experience supporting project managers in preparing project reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to function as a member of a multi-function team
  • A strong interest in developing skills and learning how to manage physical construction projects related to renewable energy assets
  • Strong capabilities in accurately gathering and analyzing data, as well as preparing written documents using proper English grammar
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) MS Project and other office software

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 35% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • An ability to exhibit flexibility which may require late night and/or weekend attention to address project related issues
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $53,900 – $83,375 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
