Context:
As GEMS continues to navigate through the digitalization process, we need a robust IT area.
This journey towards digital transformation is not only about adopting new technologies but also about rethinking our operations and business models to drive efficiency, innovation, and value creation.
The IT area is pivotal in this transition, providing the necessary infrastructure, support, and expertise to ensure that digital initiatives are implemented effectively and align with our strategic goals. It is the backbone that supports the digitalization of processes, the integration of data-driven decision-making, and the cultivation of a culture that embraces change and innovation.
IT is at the heart of de Digital Transformation and enables GEMS to optimize renewable assets, manage energy for decentralized assets and clients and supports all businesses and support units at GEMS Iberia.
The team is also responsible for managing relationships with technological partners and coordination with other IT areas within GEMS & Engie.
Role:
Ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and manageable, enabling GEMS to make data-driven decisions:
- Data storage systems development and maintenance: building and maintaining robust, scalable data architectures.
- Data processing and transformation: implementing processes to transform raw data into formats suitable for analysis.
- Data flow optimization: ensuring efficiency and speed in data transfer.
- Data quality and integrity assurance: implementing measures to ensure data accuracy and consistency over time.
- Collaboration with analytics and data science teams: working closely with analysts and data scientists to prepare data for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Data pipeline development: constructing and maintaining data pipelines that support complex data workflows.
- Data security management: applying security practices and protocols to protect data against unauthorized access.
- Data processes automation and monitoring: automating repetitive tasks and monitoring data system performance.
- User support and training: providing technical support and training to non-technical users for data access and use.
- Innovation and continuous learning: staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and practices in the field of data engineering.
- Performance optimization: continuously evaluate and optimize data systems for improved performance and scalability.
- Cross-functional collaboration: work across different departments to promote data literacy and empower data-driven decision-making.
- GEMS Energy activities understanding: Familiar with GEMS’ role in asset optimization, trading, sales, energy markets as well as back office, risk management, etc.
Hard skills:
Must have:
- Advanced Programming: advanced in programming languages such as Python.
- Database management: advanced experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
- Data warehousing solutions: familiarity with data warehousing tools like Redshift, BigQuery, Teradata, etc.
- Big Data Technologies: Understanding of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Data Modeling: Ability to design and implement data schemas and models.
- ETL Tools: Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and processes.
- Cloud Services: Knowledge of cloud services like AWS or Azure.
- Data Pipeline and Workflow Management: Experience with workflow management.
- Machine Learning: Understanding of machine learning algorithms and data science principles.
- Version Control Systems: Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
- Functional and Technical Analysis: Ability to perform detailed analysis of internal clients' requirements and use cases.
- Agile Development Experience: Familiarity with agile methodologies for rapid and efficient software development.
- DevOps Tools: Knowledge of DevOps tools like Docker, Jenkins, and Kubernetes for continuous integration and deployment.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for collaborating with teams and articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding the energy sector's dynamics.
Good to have:
- Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance principles and practices to ensure data quality and compliance.
- Project Management: Skills in managing projects, understanding project scopes, and delivering within timelines.
- Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools like JIRA, Confluence, or Trello.
- Familiarity with advanced analytics and statistical methods to extract insights from data.
- Knowledge of MLOps, IAOPs, DataOps practices to improve the quality and speed of data analytics workflows.

Education and professional background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field to provide a strong technical foundation.
- Certifications in relevant technologies and methodologies such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, database management, and data analytics can be beneficial.
- At least 2 years.
Languages:
- Proficiency in Spanish
- High English
Travels:
Travel occasionally to headquarters or to other countries in order to share experiences or to assist to special events.
