What You Can Expect

The Engineer Intern is a critical role responsible for supporting the development and installation of energy conservation measures and renewable energy at large-scale public sector customers. You will be working in a fast-paced, team-based environment, at the direction of the Project Manager as well as their supervisor. Responsibilities in this role include the design of Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Measures, performing site audits, specifying equipment, and completing savings calculations to support projects in development and construction. Projects include a combination of energy efficiency measures and renewable generation installations, to help local cities, schools, and counties become more sustainable, save money, and improve services to their end-users and the expectation is that one to several projects are supported from early development through post-construction.

 

You will support ongoing projects in development or in construction which will include one ore more of the following:

  • Participate in technical design of energy-related customer improvements including such as solar PV, energy storage, microgrids, energy efficiency, and SCADA upgrades
  • Learn and apply knowledge of HVAC and Controls, including modeling software
  • Analyze utility data to verify existing customer loads, consider rate change options, and calculate energy and water cost savings
  • Perform renewable energy designs, including solar PV and energy storage system site surveys, and understand metering and measurement tools and data
  • Evaluate various types and locations of renewable energy systems
  • Perform energy conservation measure analysis including a comparison of technologies, savings calculations, scopes of work, and contractor bid costs for HVAC, controls, lighting, and water measures, using tools such as eQuest, Trane Trace, Energy Pro, and Excel spreadsheets, including bin simulations
  • Calculate potential solar generation quantities of various scenarios using PVSyst modeling, Helioscope and Energy Toolbase tools
  • Support the preparation of Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Measures scopes and specifications for subcontractor Request for Proposals
  • Prepare utility and other incentive program applications, permit packages, and customer submittals
  • Assist the Project and Construction Managers on job walks, bid evaluations, contractor negotiations, and during construction meetings
  • Assist with obtaining third-party quotes and subcontractor bids for all scopes, answers third-party questions, and assists with analyzing bids with Project Manager
  • Accurately estimates measure costs to anticipate total project costs
  • Communicate with authority-having-jurisdiction officials to obtain construction permits
  • Assist during the construction phase of the project by reviewing submittals, change orders, RFI’s, and making recommendations to the Project Manager
  • Going to job sites to support construction activities as needed and directed by the ENGIE Construction Manager

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Actively pursuing a 4-year degree at an accredited university
  • Must be in good academic standing at the start of the internship period
  • Internship duration is for the 2024 summer (May/June through August/September)

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is an in-office and in-field position; the Intern is expected to be on-site at the office or at a job site
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to travel to job sites

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $21.00 - $34.00 USD

Job Purpose/Mission 

The Customer Experience Department leads Support excellent (country-specific) customer experience through a smart customer journey and insightful, responsive analysis. Create & manage against a strategy and plan that speaks to the wider Group and Country strategic objectives. Lead market research, customer & team insights, practices of competitors, analysis of performance by business units, to inform strategy. Service Centers support Control supports the management at the outlets, i.e. EEA outlets to ensure we take care of the customers before sales, during sales and after sales which operate at the interface of Engie Energy Access Kenya, CX with interface of Supply Chain and Sales, combining warehousing and customer- facing activities. The CX support Control Administrator works with the Area Managers and Area Administrators to ensure that all sales and handovers are reflected correctly in the database and all products are activated in time, and assists Head of CX with channel support optimization by monitoring priorities for delivering value, i.e. new products, replacement products, upselling referrals and cost controls)

 

Responsibilities 

  • Working with Area Managers to ensure support at different outlets and ensure proper processes are followed before sales, during sales and after sales
  • Working closely with supply chain on all returns and repairs at the EEA Kenya outlets and ensuring that no cases are pending unattended to.
  • Working with the Area Administrators to ensure complete documentation in the EEA Kenya database (DB) on product handovers facilitated and documented by AAs (via mTawi).
  • Ensuring product bundles and products carry the correct price tag in the DB, in alignment with the CO.
  • Follow up in the DB on the extra sales / upselling of appliances that are submitted by Area Managers and Area Administrators via mTawi.
  • Following up on items that are missing during handover and item exchange, following up with the Area Managers and Area Administrators (for handover) or the Maintenance team (for item exchange).
  • Assisting the IT team in advising and training Area Admins on use of mTawi when updates and changes are introduced or troubleshoot if an Area Manager faces particular challenges.
  • Supporting the implementation of product introductions, contract updates and other Changes affecting Area Admins in close collaboration with the Head of CX and in alignment with other Area Administrators.
  • Update and renewal of contractor ID’s-on the DB, including extension of Area Admins contractor IDs to enable handover.
  • Documenting and archiving contracts that arrive at NH (i.e. are not in DB) monthly and validating that there is a contract for every handover.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Working experience in data management and data entry
  • Good understanding of warehousing operations and business-to-customer (B2C) sales

Job Purpose/Mission

Job Overview

 

The Fleet Officer Intern will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing a company’s fleet of vehicles. The fleet Officer Intern will handle all queries related to our Motor Cycle and Vehicles that are raised in our fleet system, maintains records of maintenances for the vehicles and Motor Cycles, ensuring that safety standards for operating vehicles meet the ENGIE standards as per transport policy.

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for sales commercial (sales, marketing, and business development), cascading and ensuring alignment throughout EEA-K.
  • Maintenance and Oversight: The Fleet Officer ensures that the vehicles or vessels are properly maintained in accordance with regulations. They use their knowledge of maritime law (for vessels) or transportation regulations (for vehicles) to ensure safe navigation and operation.
  • Organizing and Controlling: They organize, control, and direct the activities related to the fleet. This includes scheduling maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.
  • Budget Management: The Fleet Officer manages the budget for vehicle repairs, replacements, and other related expenses.
  • Driver/Vessel Operator Training: They ensure that drivers or vessel operators receive proper training to uphold safe operating standards.
  • Licensure and Registration: Managing vehicle licensure and registration is also part of their responsibilities.
  • Efficient Routes and Schedules: They establish efficient routes and transportation schedules for the fleet.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring drivers (or vessel operators) to ensure adherence to schedules and safe driving practices. Additionally, they provide reports to management on budgeting, maintenance, and fleet progress.
  • New Driver/Vessel Operator Recruitment: Searching for, hiring, and training new drivers or vessel operators.
  • Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Developing methods to decrease costs and improve overall fleet efficiency.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in handling fleet operations management.
  • 5 years of driving experience (driving licence must be upto date).
  • Problem-Solving thinking outside the box and quickly solving problems related to fleet operations.
  • Hardworking with a sense of responsibilty. 
  • Innovative Thinking, ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions is valuable.
  • Attention to Detail: small details can prevent issues and improve fleet performance.
  • Proficiency of GPS tracking system.
  • Experience in Motor Mechanics is an added advantage.

 

Qualification

  • Certificate/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Automative Engineering

 

Language

  • English
  • Swahili

 

Technology

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Fleet operating Systems, and other Microsoft applications.
