SPONSORSHIP AND PATRONAGE

ENGIE x Roland-Garros: over 10 years of commitment

The 2025 edition of the tournament has kicked off with an emotional moment: the farewell ceremony for Rafael Nadal, who was moved to tears in front of the crowd at Philippe-Chatrier court, where his footprint is now immortalized.
For the 11th consecutive year, ENGIE is a partner of this iconic competition, the biggest clay-court tournament of the season and the second Grand Slam of the year .
ENGIE and Roland-Garros: a story of commitment.

What if a tennis tournament could deliver more than just points on the scoreboard?

The partnership between ENGIE and Roland-Garros didn’t happen by chance.
It began over ten years ago, with the aim of associating the Group with a major sporting event to give greater resonance to its commitments. More broadly, it reflects a long-standing relationship between the brand and the world of tennis — particularly women’s tennis — which ENGIE has supported for the past 33 years.
ENGIE is committed alongside Roland-Garros, the world’s premier clay-court tournament, to using sport as a driver of transformation in support of energy transition, solidarity, equal opportunity and the fight against violence of minors in sport.

An official partner since 2014, ENGIE has renewed its commitment for at least four more editions, until 2028. This agreement now also includes a component dedicated to padel.

Today, ENGIE supports 14 tournaments across various French regions, including 7 under the 'ENGIE OPEN' label, and actively works to foster new talent.

Concrete action on all fronts

ENGIE’s partnership with Roland-Garros is reflected in tangible actions, structured around three key pillars: environmental commitment, social responsibility, and responsible technology.

  • Providing clean energy

Since 2016, all Roland-Garros facilities have been powered by 100% renewable electricity supplied by ENGIE, which also works to optimize the stadium’s overall energy performance.
This energy comes primarily from hydropower and solar sources, through ENGIE’s “green electricity” offer, covering the Roland-Garros stadium, the National Training Center at Porte Molitor, and the Jean-Bouin stadium – all three in Paris, France.
ENGIE also installs around 40 phone charging stations and provides 500 portable battery packs, allowing visitors to charge their phones with green energy.

  • Raising awareness about climate transition

Throughout the tournament, ENGIE has been deploying its “Green Teams” since 2022. Those are environmentally responsible ambassadors who roam the stadium. Equipped with tablets, they engage with spectators to share practical eco-tips, spark dialogue, and raise awareness about environmental challenges — with a mix of pedagogy, friendliness, and impact.
Interactive educational tools are also available to inform visitors about the challenges of the energy transition — including the “J’apprends l’Énergie” (“I Learn About Energy”) workshop hosted at the ENGIE booth.

  • Promoting youth inclusion

Every year, more than 300 children from the Fête le Mur association, founded by Yannick Noah (the last French male tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title), are invited to play on the Roland-Garros courts during the “Journée Yannick Noah.”
ENGIE has supported the association since 1999, with a clear ambition: to make tennis a tool for inclusion for young people from underserved neighborhoods, by offering them sporting, educational, and professional opportunities. In addition, nearly 800 children and accompanying adults from associations supported by the Group — such as “Im’Pactes”, “Autour des Williams”, “Les Déterminés”, and the children of Necker Hospital — were invited to enjoy an exceptional day at Roland-Garros.

  • Protecting the most vulnerable

ENGIE supports those who work to protect children.
In partnership with the association Rebond, the Group helps organize customized workshops to prevent sexual and psychological violence against minors — rolled out across all 'ENGIE OPEN' tournaments.
These workshops are designed for young audiences and led by trained facilitators, with the goal of informing, raising awareness, and encouraging open dialogue on issues that too often remain unspoken .

By supporting Roland-Garros in its low-carbon transition, ENGIE fully embodies its purpose: to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral economy while balancing performance with the common good.
