The GBU Supply and Energy Management (SEM), is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. SEM manages
a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and
environmental products, and provides a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants,
in Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, South America and the US


SEM APAC activities are managed out of Singapore. The Business Platform’s purpose is to perform and develop SEM
trading activities in the APAC & Middle east region around 2 main pillars: Client and Asset management.

Engie Energy Marketing Japan (EEMJ) is an operating entity within SEM APAC. It was established in 2023 to start
transacting Japan power physical contracts. EEMJ provides the market risk and renewables asset management services to
the clients based in Japan.

The Head of Origination (Japan Power) is a leadership role within EEMJ. The position’s main role will be to lead, manage
and develop Japan power sales and origination activity and to contribute to growth and profitability in EEMJ over the
short, medium and long term. The role will also contribute to BP APAC platform by promoting derivatives activities among
the Japanese clients

Key Responsibilities
Head of Origination (EEMJ):
1.            Lead the team to manage Japan Power sales and origination activities (75%)
2.            Promote derivatives transaction activities in other energy commodities and structure, as relevant, among the Japanese clients (25%)


In performing the key responsibility above, you will

·         -  Prepare strategy/ business plan for development of Japan physical power and other activity with PnL objective in short, medium & long term

·         - Focus in particular on creating new business schemes in Japan power physical (collaboration, joint-book, structured opportunities, approach end-users etc) that will bring stable profit to the business, and lead the implementation of such new schemes both internally and externally

·        -  Develop client portfolio & monetizable opportunities. Lead the onboarding and relationship management with regional parties, brokers, exchanges, platform, registries etc

·         - Identify and reinforce collaboration opportunities between SEM and other ENGIE business units in APAC.

·       -   Contribute to the effective management of relationships with external stakeholders

·         - Maintain and develop good working relationships and ensure effective communications with internal stakeholders, including Front office and support functions

·        - Have the commercial acumen to identify and develop potentially profitable opportunities

·         - Display understanding of the implications of contractual issues such as credit arrangements

·         - Recognise the importance of customer service, providing responsive solutions to our clients’ needs

·         - Be able to produce concise and persuasive reports and presentations

·         - Be able to articulate proposals efficiently in a manner that engages the audience

Level of Education

Ø  Tertiary degree in relevant discipline e.g. Engineering, Economics

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Ø  First hand transactional experience and deep expertise in Japan power physical across the deal life cycle. This includes detailed knowledge on physical power scheduling and subsequent operations

Ø  Experience and relevant skill sets for complex structuring/deal innovation

Ø  Analytical thinker, ability to deal with complex market arrangements and to understand and specify models and analysis required to support commercial decisions and understand market conditions

Ø  Strong decision-making skills – ability to make sound and timely business decisions even when working to very tight deadlines, including taking responsibility for decisions

  • Support the development and launch of new products to market, including sales training, internal process development and user testing of necessary system enhancements. Support the development and maintenance of the Customer Lifetime Value model for commercial & industrial customers, tracking customer engagements, cost of acquisition, cost of service, retention & attrition, and complete the Marketing ROI
  • Derive insights into sales performance, positioning and margin through the analysis of market data, historic sales metrics, sales pipeline, market targets, customer segmentation and product offerings in order to enhance the profitability of the business
