What You Can Expect

As our Project Management Senior (PM) working in a self-managed team concept, you will be a part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the University of Iowa in Iowa City IA.  Our projects are located on two local University campuses, and include the University Hospital. As part of this team you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $50M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-5 years. 

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system.  The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm- and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days are the same, starting with the development stage  you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration  and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and Operations and maintenance staff.

 

Additional duties include the following:

  • Administer design and construction contracts to include the development of project specifications, a detailed scope of work and principle contract provisions, working closely with corporate Contracts Management and the Procurement Department
  • Work with the University stakeholders, ENGIE colleagues, and ENGIE contractors, including engineers, architects, construction firms, and other contractors to develop and execute projects
  • Partner with Program Manager and Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify, justify, and prioritize potential projects

 

 

What You’ll Bring  

  • You have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or  related field from an ABET accredited institution
  • You will have gained a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the successful management of construction or maintenance projects in which you gained experience with managing complex projects to successful completion, such as those involving schools, hospitals, manufacturing or universities 
  • Possess or have the desire to achieve a PMP Certification
  • You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
  • You will have gained expertise in developing work packages for execution to include: statement of scope, change management, performance testing, QA/QC Requirements, Parts/Tools, Man-hours, Material Procurement, technical data Sheets, Drawings/Specifications, Task Procedures and job safety plans
  • You will have gained experience creating and giving presentations and professional  communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other project management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including your management team, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • You are experienced with managing the financial and contractual aspects of capital projects
  • You will have demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members  and exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and the resolution of conflict situations
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure performance expectations and resultant outcomes are met

Compensation  

Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually 

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

What You Can Expect

As a Project Development Advisor, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities related to projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale solar assets across the United States. You will work on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting including community and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) outreach and public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support. You will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind, solar and storage project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America.

 

  • Manage and actively drive development activities of utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, technologies, etc.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and AHJ submittals and interactions on local, state, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project Merger & Acquisition (M&A) discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Represent ENGIE at industry advocacy groups and national renewable energy events as attendee, speaker, panelist, and renewable energy leader

 

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics
  • A minimum 7 years related experience in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • Understanding of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) in the Southwest, Mountain West US regions
  • Detail-oriented individual who will proactively pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies
  • The ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential off takers, government officials, and corporate leaders

Compensation

The Project Management Director is a supervisory position within the Operations Team reporting structure that will have multiple direct reports. The Project Management Director will be assigned as the primary manager of all phases of a project, with the objective of  providing Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control, successfully developing and completing projects on time, and within budget, while maintaining quality, safety, and cash management standards and producing strong customer references. "Ports & Waterways" est l'une des lignes de produits de Tractebel, spécialisée dans l'ingénierie portuaire, les ouvrages hydrauliques et les infrastructures liées aux voies navigables, avec des projets dans le monde entier. Les compétences techniques de notre équipe couvrent la gamme complète des infrastructures maritimes et des ouvrages hydrauliques : murs de quai, écluses, jetées, digues, barrages, fondations éoliennes offshore, ponts, tunnels, protections contre les inondations, plan directeur, expansion portuaire, etc. Notre équipe conçoit des projets depuis la phase d’étude de faisabilité jusqu’aux études d’exécution, en passant par les études d’avant-projet et de projet, en étroite collaboration avec nos clients nationaux et internationaux.

La mission

  • Vous serez un acteur tout au long de l'exécution de nos projets relatifs aux infrastructures portuaires aux ouvrages hydrauliques et aux voies navigables.
  • Vous prendrez la direction de la conception des ouvrages dans le cadre d'un grand projet d'infrastructure portuaire, de barrage ou de voie navigable.
  • Vous êtes orienté vers le client et communiquez de manière constructive avec lui ainsi qu’avec les partenaires externes au sujet de la conception technique.
  • Vous concevez les ouvrages hydrauliques et portuaires en respectant les normes, la législation et les règles de bonne pratique en vigueur en Belgique et en Europe.
  • Vous préparez des études (préliminaires, d’avant-projet, de projet, d’exécution) ainsi que les dossiers d'appel d'offres pour les projets d’infrastructures portuaires, d’ouvrages hydrauliques et de voies navigables : écluses, murs de quai, jetées, fondations de pont, barrages, digues, brise-lames, plan directeur portuaire.
  • Vous analysez la méthode d'installation optimale des différentes structures que vous avez conçues, toujours avec un esprit ouvert pour des solutions innovantes et alternatives.
  • Vous assurerez la liaison entre les différents centres de compétences de Tractebel et notre partenaire dans l'entreprise commune pour les études hydrauliques, les infrastructures routières, l'aménagement du territoire, la mobilité et les équipements électromécaniques, etc.
  • Vous favorisez un processus de conception intégré en examinant de manière transversale les différentes disciplines concernées et vous menez le projet de la conception à l'achèvement.
  • Vous êtes responsable du suivi de l'avancement, de la qualité et de la performance financière du projet. Vous assurez un suivi systématique du projet, en veillant à la satisfaction du client et en prévoyant les détériorations de la performance financière.
  • Vous jouez le rôle d'ingénieur concepteur du projet et vous coordonnez et encadrez nos ingénieurs juniors et nos concepteurs CAO.
  • Vous suivez et vérifiez le travail de dessin avec les concepteurs CAO.
  • Vous développez vos compétences techniques (SCIA Engineer, DSheet Piling, Ansys, Plaxis, ...).
  • Vous assurez le développement et le partage des connaissances dans votre domaine d'expertise et encadrez les ingénieurs débutants.
  • Vous vous tenez au courant des normes, des nouvelles techniques et des développements dans votre discipline.
  • Vous aidez le responsable de l'appel d'offres à établir des offres attrayantes et innovantes.
  • Vous rendez compte au chef de projet et à votre chef d'équipe.

 

Profil

  • Vous êtes titulaire d'un Master « Ingénieur civil des constructions » ou équivalent. Une spécialisation en "Dragage et ingénierie offshore" ou "Conception de construction" ou "Ingénierie maritime" est u atout.
  • Vous avez au moins 5 ans d'expérience dans le domaine de la conception technique d’ouvrages d’art, si possible dans le domaine des ouvrages hydrauliques, des infrastructures portuaires et/ou des voies navigables.
  • Vous avez de l'expérience dans l'application des normes, règles de bonne pratique et recommandations pertinentes pour la conception des structures en béton armé et l'interaction sol-structure  aux infrastructures portuaires aux ouvrages hydrauliques et aux voies navigables tels que les murs de quai, les palplanches, les ancrages, les murs mixtes ou les grands travaux d'infrastructure civile.
  • Vous avez de l'expérience dans la conception d'armatures en béton dans des structures complexes en 3D.
  • Vous êtes axé sur la qualité et vous travaillez dans un souci de satisfaction du client.
  • Vous avez d'excellentes compétences en matière de communication.
  • Vous avez l'esprit d'équipe.
  • Vous avez une connaissance approfondie des normes belges et européennes actuelles, de la législation et des codes de pratique (ISO, CE, NEN, EAU, SB250, SB260, Qualiroute...).

You will be responsible for the development, administration and implementation of two or more industrial/construction capital projects related to utility lifecycle or expansion for Georgetown University. Working in a self-managed team concept, the Project Controls Analyst II will be a part of the ENGIE team based at the Georgetown University campus and will be reporting to the Project Controls Director.

  • Integrate as a dedicated project controller assigned to work with Project Manager(s) to develop, support, manage and monitor cost & schedule elements of large capital projects across the Georgetown campus.
  • Use existing or develop processes and tools necessary to measure, analyze, and improve the performance of the capital projects
  • Follow-on support with accounting to ensure alignment of project forecast with current funding and billings
  • Assist with review and development, issuance and evaluation of contract change orders as required for their project tracks
  • Collaborate and assist on alignment of cost between planned, actual, and forecast
  • Provide detailed cost reporting daily or weekly updates, as required
  • Identify and evaluate potential changes and review of contractor bi-weekly invoices

  • Support the change control process, establishing the necessary forms, logs and expediting methods. Support the Project Controls Director on Finance, Corporate Governance and fiscal matters

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with ENGIE subsidiaries, partners, and contractors

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance or Economics in which you have gained understanding of work related to project controls: capturing data, presentation development, and cost / finance elements 
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in which you have been exposed to the construction industry or energy market experience in one of the following sectors: utility scale renewables, distributed generation (i.e. rooftop solar, etc.), energy services or construction, natural gas transportation or distribution
  • Basic understanding of variance analysis
  • Intermediate understanding of Earned Value Management

Compensation

Salary Range: $70,000– $129,000 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

Coordinar, Liderar y Supervisar la ejecución y verificación de la ingeniería de Protección y Control; y las actividades propias y de los contratistas para una correcta Puesta en Servicio de las instalaciones, incluyendo toda la información a entregar al CEN para obtener el COD de los proyectos de la gerencia (Transmisión, Generación y Renovables), tomando en cuenta las buenas prácticas de la industria, la normativa local e internacional y las políticas y prácticas de ENGIE

 

Funciones:

  • Guiar y Supervisar todas las etapas del desarrollo de la Ingeniería de Protección y Control con el fin de asegurar factibilidad, especificaciones, ingeniería básica y de detalle, ingeniería, para construcción, as- built, etc. de los proyectos del área
  • Conducir y Supervisar las actividades de contratos de Ingeniería de Contra Parte o la parte de ingeniería de los contratos EPCs, BOP o Suministro, en lo referido a Protección y Control, con el fin de asegurar que la ingeniería se realice según el alcance y cronograma establecidos y las buenas prácticas y estándares y normas nacionales e internacionales aplicables
  • Coordinar y controlar las actividades del equipo de comisionamiento y de los contratistas a su cargo, entre ellos y con las demás áreas de Implementación, con O&M Renovables, Operaciones, con el CEN y con el resto de la empresa y autoridades, para asegurar el cumplimiento de los plazos y estándares establecidos
  • Coordinar y Controlar los recursos disponibles del equipo de comisionamiento hasta el HandOver final, Conducir la Puesta en Servicio de las nuevas instalaciones asociadas a proyectos renovables en lo relacionado con transmisión, generación y la conexión a red, asegurando la implementación de las acciones, coordinando y entregando la información al CEN, a O&M renovables y a Operaciones, obteniendo el COD, desarrollando trabajos en terreno por los periodos indicados
  • Controlar y Coordinar el cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad, seguridad, medio ambiente, permisos, relación con stakeholders, y gestión de riesgos, así como el seguimiento de los indicadores, para garantizar la continuidad de las operaciones conforme a las normativas legales y políticas de la GBU y la compañía

 

Requisitos del cargo:

  • Formación académica: Ingeniero Eléctrico, Electrónico, Industrial o Equivalente con al menos 5 años de experiencia en área de comisionamiento Subestaciones y 3 años de experiencia en área de construcción y/o comisionamiento parques eólicos. Técnico Eléctrico, Electrónico, Electromecánico con al menos 10 años de experiencia TOTAL en construcción y/o comisionamiento Subestaciones, de este total  al menos 5 años de experiencia en Comisionamiento de Subestaciones y/o parques eólicos
  • Uso de sistemas de gestión de calidad aplicados en proyectos (procesos de certificación, auditorías, seguimiento de no conformidades).
  • Evaluación técnica/económica
  • Conocimientos sobre metodología HSE, de sistemas de control de documentos, control de costos, control de planning.
  • Conocimientos técnicos en las áreas de Transmisión y Generación.
  • Conocimientos técnicos específicos en Aerogeneradores, pruebas eléctricas en Media y Alta Tensión.
  • Mínimo 8 años de experiencia en puestos similares en cuanto a responsabilidades y disciplina

¿Cuál sería tu objetivo?

Negociar, administrar y cerrar los contratos de proyectos renovables (generación y/o almacenamiento), con fin de asegurar que los procesos administración y control de las condiciones de los contratos, resolución de controversias y conflictos, así como el cumplimiento de las obligaciones derivadas del contrato, se encuentren alineado a los estándares internos y legislación vigente; coordinando con las áreas internas y adoptando las acciones que sean necesarias para garantizar la entrega de servicios / productos en tiempo y forma, así como la correcta la gestión de las garantías y penalidades que correspondan

 

Funciones:

  • Administrar los recursos humanos, financieros y físicos con el fin de lograr que se alcancen las metas propuestas para el proyecto en cuestión (CAPEX / NTP Date / COD, etc.), optimizando al máximo todos los recursos durante todas las fases del ciclo de vida del proyecto, analizando y realizando reportes de gestión para la toma de decisiones
  • Dirigir y Controlar los procesos de validación de pagos de servicios, con el fin de asegurar que lo ejecutado sea lo cobrado, de acuerdo con avances y/o cumplimiento de las actividades y servicios efectivamente prestados, rendidos vía supervisión de Engie, asegurando la liberación de pagos – según el proceso definido por Engie
  • Participar y controlar el presupuesto definido de todos los costos del contrato y la planificación de los servicios, con el fin de asegurar el cumplimiento de los gastos, anticipando la expiración del contrato con tiempo para su re-negociación en caso necesar
  • Dirigir y Controlar el proceso de validación de pagos con el fin de asegurar que se pague de acuerdo con lo estipulado en el contrato y la mantención y resguardo de toda la documentación relevante asociada al contrato, incluyendo, pero no limitando a: contrato firmado, boletas de garantías, seguros, información contractual laboral, estados de pago, aplicación de multas, etc
  • Conocer y evaluar los riesgos a los que se encuentra Engie respecto al contrato y los contratistas respecto a los trabajos y sus respectivos hitos multables, con el fin de definir la forma de contrato adecuada para la situación que esté alineada a cada tipo de riesgo, aplicando mecanismos de control y mitigación de sus efectos
  • Dirigir los procesos de gestión de disputas que se generen durante el suministro o servicio, siempre con la consulta y soporte de las áreas internas de Engie, resguardando los intereses de la compañía, con el fin de que el resultado esté alineado con los objetivos de la compañía
