Senior Manager, Client Success

This role is responsible for leading and motivating team members of the Client Success Department. The Senior Manager coordinates workflow and client assignments to achieve optimum quality and efficiency; coaches team members to improve performance; serves as a client facing point of escalation to resolve issues and mitigate risk; oversees staff administration needs; develop and implement tools and processes for client management.  This position will lead and manage a team aligned to support the unique and individual needs of clients throughout various stages of their engagement with ENGIE Impact.  This position will identify and implement team standards that model a strong client focus with high touch service levels that will successfully support the company’s breadth of services achieving key business objectives, including direct interaction with clients as required.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership/ Financial Accountability/ Client Engagement/ Decision Making/

  • Responsible for leading a Client Success team including Client Representatives, Sr. Client Representatives, Client Operations Specialists, Client Success Associates, and Client Success Managers.
  • Provides support to direct reports in ensuring teams are meeting necessary deliverables and goals.
  • Responsible for the development and monitoring of goals and objectives specific to team performance to ensure a high level of client satisfaction around our service offerings.
  • Supports development and maintains comprehensive toolsets for risk management and strategic/proactive client oversight.
  • Ensure workflow efficiency to gain optimum quality.  Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and recommends changes as appropriate. Continually challenges existing procedures to identify efficiency gain opportunities.
  • Serve as intermediary to IT, RDM, S&I, Finance, Product Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations and other internal teams as required to ensure client and ENGIE Impact success.
  • Ensure team is staffed and resources are allocated appropriately to meet contract deliverables as well as effectively support client needs.
  • Regarded as next level escalation point for complex client issues.  Coordinates resolution of client issues with appropriate client stakeholders ensuring applicable business partners are involved.  Ensure highest possible level of service to clients, and personally work with clients who require special assistance, while maintaining company commitments.  Works directly with appropriate leaders or executives within ENGIE Impact for resolution of significantly complex client issues.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and support of operational standard processes to help drive consistency, accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Establish and promote leadership qualities that support seamless communication and teamwork within the delivery teams across Impact, in the pursuit of establishing a cohesive culture and in support of delivery excellence.
  • Maintain leadership standards that foster teamwork by promoting continuous improvement, soliciting suggestions and new ideas, and encouraging the exchange of information with all employees throughout the company.
  • Partners with Human Resources regarding staffing, performance evaluations, staff development, and progressive disciplines. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to timekeeping and leave requests.

    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • 5 years account management experience preferred
    • 5 years experience in energy, utility or related field is preferred

    • Knowledge of company objectives as well as service deliverables, and in-depth understanding of ENGIE Impact’s full suite of services, including utility/telecom/waste expense and energy management and external client reporting tools are required.

The pay range for this role is: $97,000-$139,000. 

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Overview

 

Excellent opportunity for a B2B Operations Analyst to join our Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) ANZ business to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral economy by providing support to the B2B Operations team with billing and billing-related activities including reconciliations, reporting and operational support.

The role reports to the B2B Customer Operations Manager and can be worked flexibly from our Southbank office and from home.  Ideally, this is a full time role, however reasonable requests for part time work would be considered (0.80 FTE).

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

The B2B Operations Analyst will work closely with the B2B Operations, Sales and Performance Management teams and be responsible for the following:

  • Revenue assurance operations, including:
    • Perform monthly billing reconciliations (BREC)
    • Maintenance of the existing system used for BREC, including oversight and responsibility for any potential migration to a new system
    • Timely completion of the monthly network charge reconciliations
    • Pursue resolution of charge disputes with distribution networks and system vendor
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with distribution networks

 

  • Supporting the Billing functions within the B2B Operations team, including:
    • Assisting the billing and commercial teams in annual price changes
    • Assisting in customer network tariff optimisation, as led from the wider B2B team
    • Assisting with monthly billing activities
    • Responsible for completing manual or ad hoc billing requests

 

  • Providing Technical Support to the B2B Operations team, including:
    • Supporting internal IT documenting business requirements for the Operations team
    • Supporting user acceptance testing of various applications relevant to Operations
    • Working with other team members to introduce improvements to the billing system
    • Troubleshooting and supporting technology used by the Operations team – e.g. Power BI system used for data and financial reconciliations

 

 

About You:

 

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in the billing and reconciliations of commercial customers and have understanding of market transactions and network tariffs for electricity.

You will also have:

    • Ability to be analytical and possess attention to detail

Job Overview

The Head of Commercial will play a critical role in ENGIE Energy Access CDI. As Commercial Director, you are responsible for developing and implementing Sales, Marketing & Business Development (Partnerships) strategies to accelerate growth with our current and new, while maintaining strong customer repayments. You are also expected to identify new commercial opportunities, manage marketing efforts and coordinate the execution of market research and analysis to create business plans based on commercial opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for sales commercial (sales, marketing and business development), cascading and ensuring alignment throughout EEA CDI.
  • Manage consolidated country P&L commercial performance (primarily revenue and gross profit), with a secondary focus on driving overall EBITDA (given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes).
  • Where the country is underperforming on sales and commercial targets, manage turnaround efforts to remediate performance.
  • Establish a best-in-class commercial operating model, with a high-impact and right-sized organizational structure, tools, reports, standards and systems.
  • Lead our go-to-market strategy through understanding our customers, the market and competitive landscape then determining competitive positioning with regards to products, prices, channels and locations.
  • Develop and lead a team a commercial team (including State Managers) on a local, regional and national level, with full responsibility for the team’s workplan, coaching and professional development.
  • Lead and oversee strategic projects to improve commercial performance.

 

Detailed Responsibilities

 

Strategy, Planning & Budgeting

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for commercial across EEA CDI over the short, medium and long-term.
  • Develop the commercial strategy to drive efficient customer acquisition and revenue growth throughout EEA CDI, including directly owning key inputs with our go-to-market strategy (locations, distribution channels, marketing, partnerships etc.) and collaborating cross-functionally to determine other key strategic inputs (e.g. product, pricing, CX, etc.)
  • Ensure regions have localized strategies in line with the country strategy and have robust plans to deliver the country targets, including allocating sufficient investment and resources to reliably execute.
  • As part of the management team, provide thought partnership for cross-functional leads, provide input into strategies, act as a key stakeholder on cross-functional decisions and ensure that core commercial and enabling functions align with the sales strategy.
  • Develop the sales, marketing and business development team budgets, and track departmental expenditures, financial goals and budgets.
  • Where required, both lead and oversee strategic commercial projects to drive sales growth across EEA CDI.

 

Governance, Reporting, Analytics & Performance Management

  • Continuously manage country P&L performance, including:
  • Primary focus on revenue (though sales volumes, kit mix and price), gross profit (through maximizing sales of higher margin withs with a lower COGS) and cost of sale
  • Secondary focus on EBITDA, given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes.
  • Set the overarching sales target setting process, approve regional sales targets.
  • Oversee the development of reports, analysis and insights for financial performance and other operational KPIs for sales (per sales manager / agent, active agents) and marketing (brand health, marketing spend, referrals, etc.).
  • Establish the overarching governance framework to track performance against commercial goals, lead national] governance forums and hold State Managers and other departments accountable for results and plans.
  • Where there is underperformance, provide hands-on support to turnaround and make key decisions to remediate performance.
  • Continuously monitor performance of other key functions that drive sales, including product, pricing, sales, distribution, portfolio health, customer experience, software, and service with potential partners, working with them to take remediation action to address underperformance.

 

Commercial Operations

  • Lead and manage development of a robust sales operating model, including:
  • Develop procedures and policies for core sales operations functions (lead and opportunity management; recruitment and training, tools of trade, incentives, size and structure, government reporting and performance management etc.).
  • Implement procedures and policies throughout the sales function, monitor and ensure compliance, continually test and improve.
  • Lead and manage marketing operations, including:
  • Lead market research, including the market and competitive landscape to identify analyze threats and opportunities.
  • Segment EEA Nigeria’s customers and develop tailored strategies to target
  • Identify trends in customer behavior closely following sales, product usage, customer retention, upgrades and competitors, leveraging this data to enhance our commercial strategy.
  • Supervise all marketing channels and methods to ensure appropriate information is effectively communicated to external audiences (including leading campaigns).
  • Establish and manage external partnerships, including negotiating ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers, managing and reviewing contracts and making recommendations regarding commerciality.

 

Leadership, Management & Culture

  • Develop and lead a team of sales and commercial managers and analysts, including full responsibility for coaching and their professional development.
  • Manage the team’s work plan and workload to ensure delivery of agreed goals.
  • Help recruit, collaborate with, coordinate and train diverse teams such as Marketing and especially field sales and credit teams.
  • Provide strong leadership, management and coaching for regional sales teams, including with support to other members of the Management Team

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in progressive business leadership experience, with 3+ years leading a Commercial function (particularly FMCGs, MNOs & financial institutions)
  • Strong commercial capability across sales and marketing (particularly in B2C), with a demonstrated history of leading and delivering strong commercial results.
  • Outstanding leadership, having led large field-based sales teams and the ability to create a performance culture with strong governance, accountability and results.
  • Strong understanding of the CDI commercial environment, ideally with time spent in various regions throughout CDI.

  • Support the product development roadmap, ensuring plans are well defined and communicated, and measurable.

Job Purpose/Mission 

The Customer Experience Department leads Support excellent (country-specific) customer experience through a smart customer journey and insightful, responsive analysis. Create & manage against a strategy and plan that speaks to the wider Group and Country strategic objectives. Lead market research, customer & team insights, practices of competitors, analysis of performance by business units, to inform strategy. Service Centers support Control supports the management at the outlets, i.e. EEA outlets to ensure we take care of the customers before sales, during sales and after sales which operate at the interface of Engie Energy Access Kenya, CX with interface of Supply Chain and Sales, combining warehousing and customer- facing activities. The CX support Control Administrator works with the Area Managers and Area Administrators to ensure that all sales and handovers are reflected correctly in the database and all products are activated in time, and assists Head of CX with channel support optimization by monitoring priorities for delivering value, i.e. new products, replacement products, upselling referrals and cost controls)

 

Responsibilities 

  • Working with Area Managers to ensure support at different outlets and ensure proper processes are followed before sales, during sales and after sales
  • Working closely with supply chain on all returns and repairs at the EEA Kenya outlets and ensuring that no cases are pending unattended to.
  • Working with the Area Administrators to ensure complete documentation in the EEA Kenya database (DB) on product handovers facilitated and documented by AAs (via mTawi).
  • Ensuring product bundles and products carry the correct price tag in the DB, in alignment with the CO.
  • Follow up in the DB on the extra sales / upselling of appliances that are submitted by Area Managers and Area Administrators via mTawi.
  • Following up on items that are missing during handover and item exchange, following up with the Area Managers and Area Administrators (for handover) or the Maintenance team (for item exchange).
  • Assisting the IT team in advising and training Area Admins on use of mTawi when updates and changes are introduced or troubleshoot if an Area Manager faces particular challenges.
  • Supporting the implementation of product introductions, contract updates and other Changes affecting Area Admins in close collaboration with the Head of CX and in alignment with other Area Administrators.
  • Update and renewal of contractor ID’s-on the DB, including extension of Area Admins contractor IDs to enable handover.
  • Documenting and archiving contracts that arrive at NH (i.e. are not in DB) monthly and validating that there is a contract for every handover.
