What You Can Expect

Our Contracts Analyst II, located at the University of Iowa Campus, will collaborate closely with our Capital Projects team on campus and provide active support to team members located at Georgetown University, The Ohio State University, and our Corporate Office in Houston, TX. This dynamic role entails supporting the negotiation, development, and administration of capital project contracts associated with campus energy systems' capital improvement projects. Additionally, there may be involvement in contract activities for business development concerning new partnerships with universities, commercial, and industrial entities.

 

Every day is different, however one aspect of this role is constant. The significance of building and maintaining strong relationships. You'll engage with various groups and divisions within ENGIE, vendors, subcontractors, and the University on a daily basis, recognizing that robust partnerships are essential for our success on campus.

 

Your daily responsibilities will involve assisting project managers and contract advisors in the contracting and procurement process for all capital improvement projects on Campus. This includes supporting the development and tracking of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, ensuring alignment with project schedules and stakeholder requirements. You'll take the lead in the contract bidding process for low-risk contracts, acting as the single point of contact for bidders, organizing site visits, and issuing RFP addenda as needed. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements in our contracts will be a key aspect of your role. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in negotiating with selected bidders, employing a documented process and sound judgment to resolve scope, terms, and other discrepancies.

 

You'll also contribute to the procurement process by creating vendor-related agreements for services and materials, and participate in the development and tracking of legal documents such as contractual submittals, notices, and change orders as necessary. Furthermore, you'll review supplier/contract project invoicing for compliance with contracts, support project close-out documentation requirements using provisional acceptance and final acceptance contract documentation, and track, evaluate, and qualify new and existing contractor relationships. Providing support on contractual claims and disputes will also be part of your responsibilities.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Business, or Bachelor of Business Administration, Supply Chain or other similar degree
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a related field where you have developed a background in contract development / contract administration or project related execution
  • You will have gained experience in energy systems development or construction with public, industrial, or commercial customers
  • You are experienced in planning  and working independently as well as being a collaborative team player
  • You are able to handle multiple tasks concurrently at a fast pace and with accuracy
  • You have excellent communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You must be able to create Pivot Tables and charts in Excel, and produce professional presentations in PowerPoint, and craft contract documentation in word

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy: We require a minimum of three days in the office per week, with the ability to work additional days on site when business necessitates it

Compensation

Salary Range: $74,500 – $114,195 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

What You Can Expect

The Senior Contracts Advisor in this role will ensure that ENGIE North America projects are properly contracted in compliance with appropriate business and sector procurement and ethics policies for a specific project or work area within a larger projectThe Senior Contracts Advisor leads the process of developing contract documentation incorporating project requirements, identifying project risks and incorporating risk mitigation strategies, tendering, negotiating and formalizing EPC contracts and service contracts.

 

As the Senior Contracts Advisor, you are the single point of contact to develop the project contract strategy, planning, and implementation to meet the project goals engaging with the project stakeholders.

 

  • Evaluate project agreements and ensure flow-down provisions are incorporated
  • Identify project risks and mitigation plans through the development of the contracting plan
  • Develop a list of potential bidders, solicits contractor/supplier Letters of Interest based on the contracting plan
  • Develop the Request for Proposal (RFP) packages relying on discussions and documentation from the Project Team members to provide a complete package meeting the project schedule and incorporating stakeholder requirements
  • Drive the contract bidding process for contracts as bidder single point of contact using coordination meetings, site visits and issuing RFP addenda as required. Prepares bid tabulations incorporating Project Team member’s reviews to make a final bidder recommendation
  • Notify the selected bidder and unsuccessful bidders
  • Manage the negotiations with the selected bidder using a documented process using good judgment toto identify contract issues and resolves Scope and Terms and Conditions differences
  • Prepare final contract, award letter and Notice to Proceed as appropriate
  • Actively involved in the continuous improvements to reduce the total installed capital investment, reduction of Owner risk profile, reduction of schedule from commencement to commercial operations, and avoidance of contract change orders and/or claims
  • Review supplier/contract project invoicing for contract compliance
  • Review Change Order Requests and drives the negotiations with the supplier/contractor using good judgment and negotiations skills while utilizing the Project Team and contract terms. Negotiates schedule and cost impacts to preserve the contracting plan
  • Prepare final Change Orders for signature using the agreements, the results of the negotiations with the contractor and the Project Team
  • Prepare project close-out documentation using Provisional Acceptance and Final Acceptance contract documentation

 

 

What You’ll Bring   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field where you have learned technical specifications and terms, contract terms, and scopes of work
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in contract management for large industrial projects
  • Understanding of project execution and project related tax, finance, insurance, and legal issues
  • Ability to work independently and with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in an environment with a high level of deliverables

What You’ll Bring

  • At minimum a Juris Doctorate (JD) or Batchelor’s of Law (LLB) from an accredited Canadian law school with a license to practice law in a Canadian province or territory (dual license in Canada and U.S is beneficial to the position). If not licensed in Ontario, be prepared to be licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada in Ontario

  • A minimum of seven (7) years energy transactional experience, preferably with substantive experience in the electric power and utility services area, involving a variety of generation technologies

Objective :

Your function

Renewables Global Business Unit (R-GBU) is supporting the Group to accelerate Renewables (RES) asset development with an EBIT around €1.2 Bn end of 2021. We count 4,900 employees and more than 50 nationalities across 20 countries. With an installed capacity of 36 GW end of June 2022 across 4 Operational Areas, R-GBU manages a diversified portfolio of assets including Solar (4.6 GW), Wind (13.7 GW) and Hydro (17.9 GW) assets. Our ambition is to multiply by more than 2 our installed capacity with 80 GW in 2030.

 

 

Scope of the missions:

 

Drafting and negotiation of M&A transactions in France both buy-side and sell-side (NBO, BO, SPA, put and call agreement etc. ) from due diligence phase to post-closing;
Implementation and monitoring of partnerships: drafting and negotiation of shareholders agreement;
Drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, such as non-recourse financings, including legal follow-up of financing agreements (waiver, security package, etc.);
Review of PPAs (for all geographies, not only France);
Participation in cross-functional issues related to the governance of the companies, etc.;
Supporting operational teams and management in their decision-making by identifying and assessing legal risks and making proposals and recommendations
 

Ensuring that these activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, ethical principles, policies and procedures in force within the Engie Group, and reporting on any non-compliance, encouraging a culture of compliance with these laws, principles, policies and procedures
 

Establish and deploy good legal and ethical practices related to these activities
 

Management of the external lawyers
 

EXPERIENCE :

 

Law degree from a recognized university

Min 5 years of legal experience – ideally in an international law firm - relevant to the mission

Fluent French and English
