What You Can Expect
As a Senior Advisor Data Pipeline Engineer you will be a critical member of ENGIE's growing team of Software Engineers and Data Scientists. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based data pipelines that power our innovative energy solutions. Your work will ensure that external data sources—such as weather and grid data—are reliably fetched, processed, and stored in support of advanced analytics, forecasting, and optimization tools.
You will collaborate closely with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand evolving data needs, contributing to the performance, scalability, and observability of our overall data architecture. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, detail-oriented engineer passionate about data integrity, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Head of Operational Technology, your roles and responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and observable cloud-based data pipelines supporting large volumes of structured and unstructured data
- Develop and maintain integrations with external data providers, specifically weather and grid data sources
- Contribute to the architecture and design of the broader data pipeline ecosystem, focusing on scalability and low-maintenance operation
- Support data governance, compliance initiatives, and implementation of data security best practices
- Build dashboards and monitoring tools to ensure pipeline reliability and prompt issue detection
- Monitor data pipelines for performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot operational issues
- Participate in peer code reviews, team knowledge sharing, and contribute to process improvements
- Advocate and enforce best practices in data management, orchestration, and software development
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum of a high school diploma with relevant certifications in Data Engineering
- Minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience as a data, data pipeline, machine learning, or project management work in the data field
- Proven track record building high-volume, low-maintenance, production-grade data pipelines, ideally supporting machine learning applications
- Experience in ETL processes, data ingestion from multiple sources, and orchestration frameworks
- Experience in programming proficiency in Python, with solid experience writing database queries in SQL
- Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data-related services
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Dagster (preferred), Prefect, or Airflo
- Familiarity with distributed systems and understanding of best practices for scalability and reliability
- Solid grasp of data security, privacy compliance, and governance principles
- Strong commitment to collaboration, with a team-first mentality and excellent communication skills
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for remote work within the United States
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $131,000 – $200,790 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
