Triathlon - Cassandre Beaugrand goes for glory in red, white and blue

On 6 September, Team ENGIE’s triathlete was crowned Mixed Relay World Champion in Hamburg, Germany, winning the title for the 3rd time (2018, 2019 and now 2020) alongside French team-mates Léonie Perrault, Léo Bergère and Dorian Coninx.

She also won the French Club Cup at the Poissy Triathlon, run at Les Herbiers on 4 October. After a difficult year for Cassandre due to injury, ENGIE is delighted to see the team's triathlete back on track for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics!

Sailing - Marie Riou, a Mediterranean victory

Marie Riou, Mediterranean victory

 

After a victory in Marseille last August, Marie Riou competed in the European mixed double-handed offshore sailing championships. With a total of three days and three nights of sailing - 66 hours of racing in all - Marie Riou and her team-mate Benjamin Schwartz successfully outperformed their competitors off the Cinque Terre coast (Genoa, Italy). Marie Riou is brilliantly navigating her sporting career as she continues her race towards 2024, when offshore sailing has been chosen as the opening discipline for the Paris Olympic Games.

Judo - Madeleine Malonga: a great come-back in Brest!

Madeleine, Team ENGIE’s judokate, had not enjoyed a taste of competition for 7 months. The last time was in February 2020 in Paris, where she retained her title as Paris Grand Slam champion. At the start of October, she was back on the mat for the 2020 edition of the French Team Championships in Brest. With very satisfying results as she won first place with the Blanc Mesnil Judo women's team... for the 3rd time running! Congratulations Madeleine!!

Surfing - Pauline Ado, on land and sea

Before joining Team ENGIE as a surfer, Pauline was already a very committed athlete in her Basque Country region. After getting involved in a forest restoration project, she took part in the first stage of the Vel'Odyssée race on 14 September, travelling 115 km from Biarritz to Mimizan. The goal? To meet scientists and schoolchildren to talk about environment-related issues in our region... by bike!

A podium finish at the French Rendez-vous of Surfing

 

Pauline took 3rd place at the French Rendez-vous of Surfing run by the World Surf League in Anglet from 23 to 25 September, and took the opportunity to leave her footprints on the famous Anglet Surf Avenue, alongside some great names from the world professional surfing.

Sailing - Billy Besson: A victorious ETF26!

Billy Besson and his Billy Besson Racing Team are competing in the ETF26, European Catamaran circuit in Foil, on the French Atlantic coast. The Team ENGIE athlete has already won 3 of the 4 stages on the circuit's programme: 

  • 1st overall - Warm Up in Carnac (28-30 August): victory in 9 of the 13 races, 
  • 1st overall - National de La Rochelle (10-13 September): victory in 13 of the 16 races, 
  • 1st overall - Spi Ouest France Destination Morbihan, La Trinité sur Mer (24-27 September): victory in 7 of the 8 races.

Kitesurfing - Alex Caizergues has the wind in his sails

As part of a fundraising event for the Pure Ocean Fund association, our kitesurfing ambassador Alex Caizergues offered a coaching session in this autumn month of September. After winning first place with his directional board in the 3rd stage of the ENGIE KITE TOUR in Grande Motte, he will compete in the Final of the 2020 circuit in Hyères from 9 to 11 October!
