What You Can Expect

As the Head of Interconnection you will be responsible for managing the interconnection and grid integration process to support the company's overall development and operational goals in California Independent System Operator “CAISO”. Focus will be on the Company’s existing ~10 GW pipeline of utility scale stand-alone energy storage projects in CAISO, MISO, and ERCOT as well as new project analysis. You will be responsible for transmission-related topics including tariffs, planning, technical evaluation, contract negotiations and the overall interconnection process through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects.

 

Every day in this role you will be responsible for managing the interconnection process and monitor key milestones throughout the lifecycle of the project from early-stage development to commercial operation.

 

  • Coordinate, review and interpret interconnection and transmission studies performed by utilities and outside consultants
  • Function as main liaison with project developers, and third-party consultants, on matters relating to interconnection to provide technical insight and business solutions to reduce interconnection cost and remove obstacles to project development
  • Perform/manage analysis to predict interconnection capacity, deliverability, and other key parameters to support project development and have experience with load flow modeling and analyses
  • Conduct due-diligence review for potential interconnection and transmission risks related to potential projects, portfolio acquisitions, and commercial transactions; provide recommendations to the acquisition team
  • Perform transmission assessments and policy reviews to forecast future system conditions and determine commercial viability to support development and construction activities
  • Negotiation of contractual agreements with utilities
  • Collaborate with engineering team in optimizing project’s engineering design in support of grid integration requirements 
  • Represent the Company to establish and maintain productive relationships with key utility and CAISO personnel, industry groups, regulators and other stakeholders on issues related to transmission and interconnection
  • Monitor regional transmission planning process and interconnection policy changes; participate as stakeholder in transmission and market-related regulatory activities as necessary with collaboration with the Company’s regulatory and development teams
  • Review utility transmission planning reports and present findings to the Company
  • Provide technical support for project development and acquisition activities in the evaluation of transmission system and planning issues
  • Actively monitor the progress of required system upgrades and identify creative mitigation solutions to support development of projects codes

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, or another Analytical field required
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience and ten (10) years of experience in CAISO transmission planning or generation interconnection with a minimum at a developer or consulting firm
  • Deep understanding of the interconnection process in CAISO
  • Familiar with power system modeling and transmission planning/generator interconnection studies
  • Experience in transmission planning, grid operation and generator interconnection topics in CAISO
  • Have established or able to establish strong working relationships with utilities, CAISO, and industry stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze power flow and system impact studies for interconnection of multiple types of generation
  • Understanding of electrical diagrams/systems and preliminary site plans
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, capable of applying advanced engineering principles to identify and solve complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips

Compensation

Salary Range: $232,900 – $341,550 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

Purpose/Mission 

 

As Financial Planning & Associate, you will join the Global FP&A team that manages business planning processes and provides data and analysis to drive strategic decisions across our 9 countries of operation. In this role, you will draw powerful insights for action from our unique, extensive, and rich dataset to drive the development of financial models and strategy execution. Job Overview

The Head of Commercial will play a critical role in ENGIE Energy Access CDI. As Commercial Director, you are responsible for developing and implementing Sales, Marketing & Business Development (Partnerships) strategies to accelerate growth with our current and new, while maintaining strong customer repayments. You are also expected to identify new commercial opportunities, manage marketing efforts and coordinate the execution of market research and analysis to create business plans based on commercial opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for sales commercial (sales, marketing and business development), cascading and ensuring alignment throughout EEA CDI.
  • Manage consolidated country P&L commercial performance (primarily revenue and gross profit), with a secondary focus on driving overall EBITDA (given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes).
  • Where the country is underperforming on sales and commercial targets, manage turnaround efforts to remediate performance.
  • Establish a best-in-class commercial operating model, with a high-impact and right-sized organizational structure, tools, reports, standards and systems.
  • Lead our go-to-market strategy through understanding our customers, the market and competitive landscape then determining competitive positioning with regards to products, prices, channels and locations.
  • Develop and lead a team a commercial team (including State Managers) on a local, regional and national level, with full responsibility for the team’s workplan, coaching and professional development.
  • Lead and oversee strategic projects to improve commercial performance.

 

Detailed Responsibilities

 

Strategy, Planning & Budgeting

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for commercial across EEA CDI over the short, medium and long-term.
  • Develop the commercial strategy to drive efficient customer acquisition and revenue growth throughout EEA CDI, including directly owning key inputs with our go-to-market strategy (locations, distribution channels, marketing, partnerships etc.) and collaborating cross-functionally to determine other key strategic inputs (e.g. product, pricing, CX, etc.)
  • Ensure regions have localized strategies in line with the country strategy and have robust plans to deliver the country targets, including allocating sufficient investment and resources to reliably execute.
  • As part of the management team, provide thought partnership for cross-functional leads, provide input into strategies, act as a key stakeholder on cross-functional decisions and ensure that core commercial and enabling functions align with the sales strategy.
  • Develop the sales, marketing and business development team budgets, and track departmental expenditures, financial goals and budgets.
  • Where required, both lead and oversee strategic commercial projects to drive sales growth across EEA CDI.

 

Governance, Reporting, Analytics & Performance Management

  • Continuously manage country P&L performance, including:
  • Primary focus on revenue (though sales volumes, kit mix and price), gross profit (through maximizing sales of higher margin withs with a lower COGS) and cost of sale
  • Secondary focus on EBITDA, given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes.
  • Set the overarching sales target setting process, approve regional sales targets.
  • Oversee the development of reports, analysis and insights for financial performance and other operational KPIs for sales (per sales manager / agent, active agents) and marketing (brand health, marketing spend, referrals, etc.).
  • Establish the overarching governance framework to track performance against commercial goals, lead national] governance forums and hold State Managers and other departments accountable for results and plans.
  • Where there is underperformance, provide hands-on support to turnaround and make key decisions to remediate performance.
  • Continuously monitor performance of other key functions that drive sales, including product, pricing, sales, distribution, portfolio health, customer experience, software, and service with potential partners, working with them to take remediation action to address underperformance.

 

Commercial Operations

  • Lead and manage development of a robust sales operating model, including:
  • Develop procedures and policies for core sales operations functions (lead and opportunity management; recruitment and training, tools of trade, incentives, size and structure, government reporting and performance management etc.).
  • Implement procedures and policies throughout the sales function, monitor and ensure compliance, continually test and improve.
  • Lead and manage marketing operations, including:
  • Lead market research, including the market and competitive landscape to identify analyze threats and opportunities.
  • Segment EEA Nigeria’s customers and develop tailored strategies to target
  • Identify trends in customer behavior closely following sales, product usage, customer retention, upgrades and competitors, leveraging this data to enhance our commercial strategy.
  • Supervise all marketing channels and methods to ensure appropriate information is effectively communicated to external audiences (including leading campaigns).
  • Establish and manage external partnerships, including negotiating ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers, managing and reviewing contracts and making recommendations regarding commerciality.

 

Leadership, Management & Culture

  • Develop and lead a team of sales and commercial managers and analysts, including full responsibility for coaching and their professional development.
  • Manage the team’s work plan and workload to ensure delivery of agreed goals.
  • Help recruit, collaborate with, coordinate and train diverse teams such as Marketing and especially field sales and credit teams.
  • Provide strong leadership, management and coaching for regional sales teams, including with support to other members of the Management Team

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in progressive business leadership experience, with 3+ years leading a Commercial function (particularly FMCGs, MNOs & financial institutions)
  • Strong commercial capability across sales and marketing (particularly in B2C), with a demonstrated history of leading and delivering strong commercial results.
  • Outstanding leadership, having led large field-based sales teams and the ability to create a performance culture with strong governance, accountability and results.
  • Strong understanding of the CDI commercial environment, ideally with time spent in various regions throughout CDI.
  • General strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to set and communicate the strategic vision for commercial throughout the organization.
  • Ability to lead high-impact cross-functional strategic commercial projects end to end (including planning, analysis, conclusions and implementation) to achieve results.
  • Exceptional judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to independently assess and take action to achieve results.

  • Manage and maintain survey data and drawing systems (aerial, u/g obs, movement etc) and IT requirements (servers, software etc)
  • Assist the delivery of rehabilitation projects with survey services, design / drawings, plant control models and data analysis
  • Undertake routine/ periodic monitoring, surveys, pick-ups and aerial (UAV) mapping
  • Coordinate survey resources and specialist services to ensure level of service is maintained, timely and accurate.
  • Maintain appropriate survey equipment and tools to deliver optimised service (UAV, ATS, GNSS etc)

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive survey experience and sound technical skills in the application of survey activities, including management of survey data, CADD / GIS applications, telemetry and data collection and storage and management of drawing and survey records.

You are action-oriented and collaborative in your approach and possess excellent communication skills. 

You have the ability to plan and self-manage workloads and conflicting demands.

Technical knowledge of survey requirements in Latrobe Valley mining environment (including survey standards, methods and instrumentation) highly regarded.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, with exceptional communication skills Project Manager to lead the kick-start and initial development of our biodigester project. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project management, with preference in the agricultural or renewable energy sectors, with a focus on launching and scaling new initiatives. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project's inception and development, with the ultimate goal of integrating it seamlessly into our company's operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive project plan, focusing on the kick-start and initial phases of the biodigester project.
  • Oversee market research and feasibility studies to assess the viability and potential impact of the project, identifying key opportunities and challenges.
  • Establish strategic partnerships and collaborations with industry stakeholders, research institutions, and government agencies to support project objectives.
  • Develop and implement a marketing and outreach strategy to raise awareness and generate interest in the biodigester project among target audiences.
  • Manage project budgets and expenditures, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Monitor project progress against key performance indicators and milestones, making adjustments as necessary to ensure project success.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Proven experience in project management, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in launching and scaling new initiatives, preferably in the agricultural sector.

Strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills, with the ability to drive innovation and change in a dynamic environment.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and develop practical solutions.

Knowledge of agricultural practices and environmental regulations is highly desirable.

Working with Mozambican farmers and cattle producers is highly desirable.

Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Proficiency in English and Portuguese is a must.
