COP27: ENGIE at Sharm El-Cheikh
For the first time in less than 10 years, The Conference of the Parties will take place in an African country: in Egypt, in Sharm el-Sheikh, from November 7 to 18, 2022.
Considered as the COP of the “last chance”, it “will have to be the one of implementation, to move from promises to actions”, warned Ambassador Wael Aboul Magd, special representative of the Egyptian Presidency of the COP.
Objective given by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres: “to deposit a “down payment” on climate solutions that respond to the magnitude of the problem” and “plan the implementation” of all the promises of 2021.
Last year’s COP26, held in Glasgow, called on states to raise their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) each year. But only 24 countries submitted new or enhanced NDCs.
COP27 is expecting nearly 100 leaders from around the world.
- Mitigation of climate change: how are countries reducing their emissions?
- Adaptation or how are countries going to adapt to the consequences of global warming
- Financing “loss and damage” so that countries on the front lines of the crisis can cope with the consequences of climate change and the realization of the $100 billion pledge from developed countries to low-income countries to help finance their adaptation
- The Just Transition

Catherine MacGregor at the annual conference of the French Renewable Energy Trade Association
Sponsored by ENGIE, the 23rd annual conference of the French Renewable Energy Trade Association (Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables) will take place on Thursday, September 29, on the theme of "Climate emergency: a programming law at the heart of the issues." Catherine MacGregor will be speaking at the roundtable: "The French want more renewable energy but demand exemplary development."
ENGIE has set itself the goal of being Net Zero Carbon by 2045 by focusing on the acceleration of Renewables with 80 GW of renewables in its energy mix by 2030. Thus, we are a Platinum+ sponsor of one of the main French events dedicated to renewable energy. The Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables conference brings together the main French energy players – such as EDF, Total, RTE and Ademe – and this year has invited political figures to join, such as Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the French Minister for Energy Transition.
The theme of the conference is “Climate emergency: a programming law at the heart of the issues” and it will take place on Thursday 29 September at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.
