ENGIE Kite Tour 2022: an exceptional second stage in Lorient-Gâvres

By ENGIE - 04 July 2022 - 11:35

The second stage of the 2022 edition of the ENGIE Kite Tour (June 24-26) was a full house with more than 100 registrants divided into four categories: kitefoil (47 registrants), Twin-Tip (20 registrants), wing foil (23 registrants) and directional board (11 registrants). With a multitude of validated races in all categories in ideal conditions and an atmosphere as friendly as ever: the second stage of the ENGIE Kite Tour 2022 has kept all its promises and crowned beautiful winners: Axel Mazella in kitefoil, Samuel Michaille in Twin-Tip, Noé Cantaloube in wingfoil and Sylvain Maurin in directional board.

If on the water, beautiful races could be launched, on land, the Lorient stage orchestrated for the second consecutive year by the Nautical Center of Lorient (CNL) and the association Lorient Glisse & Foil offers once again the opportunity to kiteboarders to come and meet the ambassadors of the ENGIE Kite Tour and spend three days with them under the sign of sharing, exchanging, conviviality ... and gliding!

Animations around the biodiversity

The stages of the ENGIE Kite Tour are also an opportunity to raise awareness among participants and the general public about the environment. Indeed, as on all the stages of the circuit, the ENGIE Foundation and the Fondation de la Mer raise awareness of environmental protection through a waste collection. On this stage, three classes of 6th grade (70 children) from the Saint-Michel de Carnac high school came to participate in this action and collected more than 200 kg of waste. It was also an opportunity for them to discover kitesurfing thanks to the initiation to the handling of the kite and wing with an instructor.

Activities around biodiversity were also planned in the village including: a broadcast of films produced by Lorient Agglomeration on the issues of biodiversity conservation on the territory, the presentation of the Nav&Co application that allows you to discover the biodiversity on the marine maps of the Shom, a provision of the guide of good practices "water activities" on Natura 2000 sites. Or the exhibition "Discovering the biodiversity of the Lorient region" in the Village of the event and guided tours to discover the coastal developments (CoastSnap).

See you in Saint-Jean-de-Monts!

The next stage of the ENGIE Kite Tour will take place for the first time in Saint-Jean-de-Monts (Vendée) from October 21 to 23!
