Purpose of the Job:

As a Project Manager, you will take ownership and leadership of projects, ensuring their successful delivery against defined criteria of time, cost, quality, and benefits realisation. You will be responsible for managing both technical and non-technical projects from the planning phase through to closure, engaging effectively with all stakeholders to drive progress and minimise risks.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Define, document, and execute one or more projects, leading all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Estimate and report costs, timescales, and resource requirements for successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain realistic project and quality plans, tracking all activities against the plan.
  • Establish effective project governance, preparing and chairing SteerCo meetings, and providing weekly status reports to senior management.
  • Monitor costs, timescales, and resources, taking action where deviations occur.
  • Escalate project issues related to scope, quality, timing, budget, and dependencies, providing reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage change control procedures, gaining agreement for project revisions from sponsors.
  • Drive and direct the justification for change, contributing to benefits and cost analysis.
  • Negotiate and manage project resources, including non-IT resources and sub-contracted third parties.
  • Ensure smooth transition of projects into operational states, including handover to support functions.
  • Proactively seek improvements in processes, methods, and tools, sharing and implementing these within the team.
  • Deliver assigned project tasks to time and quality criteria, supporting team members in achieving their tasks.
  • Maintain business and technical project risk and issue logs, showing evidence of containment and contingency actions.
  • Lead and create strategy and approach information for major tasks such as migration, testing, and training.
  • Contribute to the development of project process improvements within the team and wider department.
  • Create engagement plans and communicate project progress and issues to stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of project methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and Lean.
  • Ability to manage project budgets and control costs.
  • Effective risk management and quality assurance skills.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate project teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to create communication and engagement plans.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to make informed decisions.

Experience:

  • Proven track record in Project Management.
  • Experience working on IT and transformation projects.
  • Substantial experience in business, transformation, and IT project and programme management.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and reporting to steering groups.
  • Energy industry experience and familiarity with IT strategy and IT/Enterprise Architecture are beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A-level standard, ideally to degree level or equivalent.
  • Recognised project management methodology, preferably PRINCE2 and/or MSP Practitioner.
  • Chartered membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., APM, BCS, IET) preferred.
  • IT service management qualification (e.g., ITIL foundation) beneficial.

Role Overview: 
Your mission will be to deliver & convert sales opportunities through third party intermediaries. Taking ownership of a defined number of commercial partnerships with a view to building long lasting mutually beneficial relationships & maximising value & sales returns for the partners in your remit, providing ongoing account management support to maximise value. 

  

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate gas and electricity supply contracts (new business and renewals) through third-party intermediaries (TPIs). 

  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain long-term, profitable relationships with third-party intermediaries (TPIs). 

  • Opportunity Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities to achieve personal and team targets. 

  • Account Management: Take ownership of a personal portfolio of third-party intermediaries (TPIs) accounts, ensuring commercial risk, compliance & performance standards are upheld.  

  • Portfolio Engagement: Oversee new business and renewal portfolios, providing comprehensive account management support  

  • Complex Negotiations: Handle complex negotiations and deliver compelling propositions and solutions ongoing support to customers.  

  • TPI Engagement: Conduct face-to-face meetings with TPIs on a weekly basis and complete monthly/quarterly business reviews to strengthen partnerships & manage ongoing performance of your partners & their portfolios. 

  • Team Support: Assist the wider Internal Account Managers team, ensuring collective targets are met. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure partners and customers receive best in class service. 

  • Process Adherence: Ensure accurate customer onboarding and compliance with internal processes & regulatory requirements. 

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong numerical, analytical, and IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 

  • Negotiation & Influence: Strong negotiation & ability to influence at all levels of organisation.  

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial awareness and planning abilities able to devise compelling solutions to both internal & external problems & challenges. 

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve complex issues and deploy effective negotiation skills. 

  • Customer Service: Competent phone manner and exceptional problem-solving abilities. 

  • Presentation Delivery: Confident & proficient at delivering compelling proposals to a wide range of stakeholders & audience sizes.  

  • Organised/ Self Motivated?: Ability to organise, manage & prioritise workload amidst conflicting priorities.  

 

Experience: 

  • Sales Experience: Previous sales experience, preferably within the industry. 

  • Third-Party Sales: Experience selling through third-party agents. 

  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to manage customer relationships and optimise sales techniques. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Degree level or equivalent. 

  • Experience in a similar role within the Energy Market.
