Disappointment for Luka MKHEIDZE

Luka Mkheidze was knocked out in the second round of the Grand Slam in Baku in mid-September – a repeat of what happened in Budapest. Disappointment for the Team ENGIE athlete who now has his sights set on gold at the European Championships in early November.
September also means a change of club for Luka Mkheidze, who is now joining Paris Saint-Germain Judo, where he will be training alongside Teddy Riner.
He also spoke at the ENGIE Consulting seminar where he shared his experience.

Future major Team ENGIE fixtures:

  • 3 to 5 November: European judo Championships with Luka Mkheidze & Madeleine Malonga.
  • 10 to 12 November: Finals of the ENGIE Kite Tour in Fréjus featuring the three Team ENGIE kiters: Poema Newland, Axel Mazella and Alex Caizergues.

Alongside Alex Caizergues, who has been our Kite Surf ambassador since 2009, ENGIE is supporting ten high-level athletes this year as part of the French Sports Foundation’s “Performance Pact”. The goal for the ten Team ENGIE athletes is naturally to qualify and compete in next summer's Olympic and Paralympic Games which will take place in Paris.
