Providing reliable, affordable and low-carbon energy for all
ENGIE supplies electricity and natural gas to households through more than 19 million contracts across six countries: France, Belgium, Romania, the Netherlands, Italy and Australia. We support our residential customers with practical solutions that help them use energy less and more efficiently. Our ambition is to make the energy transition reliable, simple and affordable for everyone.
Since 2016, in France, all our electricity contracts offered to residential customers have been sourced from renewable energy and certified through Guarantees of Origin. These certificates confirm that an equivalent amount of electricity generated from renewable sources (wind, solar and hydropower) has been injected into the grid for every kilowatt-hour consumed. Similarly, in Belgium, ENGIE offers 100% green electricity contracts certified through Guarantees of Origin.
In line with this commitment to households, customer satisfaction lies at the heart of our DNA. It is built on the quality of our offers, the reliability of our services and the proximity of our 4,000 employees working in the B2C (business-to-consumer) market. This commitment is regularly recognized and rewarded in France and Italy, reflecting the lasting trust placed in us by our customers.
In France, ENGIE was named Customer Service of the Year 2026 in the category Energy supplier for residential customers for the second consecutive year (Ipsos BVA – Viséo CI study – more information on escda.fr). In Italy, ENGIE ranks among the best electricity and gas suppliers according to the 2025 survey conducted by the consumer association Altroconsumo.

Our solutions
Green energy supply
We offer electricity contracts sourced 100% from renewable energy (wind, solar and hydropower), as well as gas offers that incorporate a growing share of biomethane. Based on the Guarantees of Origin mechanism, these solutions ensure households a reliable and decarbonized energy supply, consistent with ENGIE’s Net Zero Carbon trajectory, with a target of reaching 10% green gas in gas sales by 2030. At the end of 2025, sales of green electricity contracts continued to grow, increasing by 8% compared with 2024.
Flexibility and management
Widely implemented across many European countries, the peak/off-peak tariff system is a long-standing demand flexibility mechanism encouraging customers to shift their energy use to periods when the grid is less constrained. This demand-side flexibility complements supply-side flexibility and contributes to the balance of the electricity system while facilitating the increasing integration of renewable energy. According to our decarbonization pathways for Europe, achieving climate targets will require a significant expansion of flexibility solutions by 2050, with a substantial share coming from the demand side.
Through digital tools, we enable residential customers to adjust their electricity consumption when low-carbon electricity is more abundant. These solutions generate savings for customers while helping relieve the grid during periods of high demand. In France, incentive programs such as Ecodéfi+ encourage more responsible energy use, while in Australia the Reduce & Reward offer already engages several thousand customers.
We also support the growing electrification of uses, particularly electric mobility. In Belgium, solutions such as Empower automatically optimize electric vehicle charging during the most advantageous periods. In France, Elec’Car allows customers to benefit from reduced green electricity rates during off-peak nighttime hours, enabling them to recharge their vehicle battery and power other electrical uses. In the Netherlands, Slim Laden leverages surplus renewable electricity to enable more economical and sustainable charging.
