How ENGIE supports the growth of low-carbon mobility

ENGIE designs, deploys and operates electric vehicle charging networks across Europe. We also develop and operate France’s leading network of bioNGV (biogas fuel) stations, as well as green hydrogen refueling infrastructure.

ENGIE supports individuals, businesses and local authorities in their transition to low-carbon mobility, particularly electric mobility, through comprehensive and user-friendly charging solutions.

Active across the entire value chain, ENGIE operates:

  • upstream, through the supply of low-carbon energy (green electricity, green hydrogen and biomethane),
  • at the core of usage, through the installation, operation and management of charging points and refueling stations,
  • downstream, through digital applications and services that enable users to manage charging, monitor consumption and optimize costs. Thanks to smart solutions, charging is automatically triggered at the most favorable times (off-peak hours, lower tariffs or surplus renewable electricity), reducing costs while contributing to grid balance.

In Europe, ENGIE is deploying nearly 11,000 charging points under its ENGIE Vianeo brand, supporting both daily mobility and long-distance travel. In France, 890 charging points have been installed along highways to support long-distance journeys and ensure nationwide coverage. In Belgium, we operate more than 7,000 charging points, mainly slow chargers, located in urban and peri-urban areas to meet everyday mobility needs.

We also operate around one hundred public and private bioNGV stations in France to support the decarbonization of transport.

Charging solutions tailored to every use

Public and highway charging

ENGIE develops, in partnership with local authorities and mobility stakeholders, networks of fast and ultra-fast charging stations along major routes, in city centers and at tourist sites. In Marseille, ENGIE has deployed a network of more than 250 charging points under its ENGIE Vianeo brand.

Destination charging

ENGIE supports players in hospitality, retail and real estate in offering a seamless and sustainable charging experience. More than 500 fast charging points are being deployed in Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield shopping centers and Indigo parking facilities, powered by 100% renewable electricity.

Heavy-duty mobility charging

ENGIE is deploying a dedicated charging network for electric trucks along highways between Lyon and Paris, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in decarbonizing heavy transport. This segment alone accounts for nearly a quarter of the sector’s greenhouse gas emissions. We have also opened the first highway relay station specifically designed for heavy-duty vehicles in Sommesous (Marne, France).

Corporate fleets

We design and operate comprehensive solutions for bus, van and truck fleets, covering all stages from feasibility studies and traffic analysis to station design and real-time supervision.

Management tools to optimize charging

ENGIE enables individuals, businesses and local authorities to monitor and optimize electric vehicle charging in real time through simple and efficient digital solutions. Our tailored smart charging offers allow vehicles to be charged at the most advantageous times, based on user needs, electricity tariffs and grid conditions.

For example, offers such as Ma Recharge Intelligente in France and Smart Charge in Belgium automatically trigger charging during the cheapest periods, taking into account departure time and desired battery level.
