RENEWABLE ENERGIES

ENGIE speeds up the energy transition in Chile

By ENGIE - 29 April 2021 - 09:33

By 2026, we will reduce CO2 emissions from our energy production activities in Chile by 80%.

We are pulling out all the stops to support Chile’s transition to carbon neutrality. Coal-fired production of electricity will be halted in 2025, thanks to the closure of facilities and the conversion of the newest units to gas and biomass, and 2 GW of capacity to produce renewable energy will be developed, along with pilot projects to develop renewable hydrogen.  Through this initiative, ENGIE is demonstrating its capacity to support its customers, from enterprises, to local authorities and central governments, with the successful implementation of ambitious decarbonisation policies.
