About the team

The Renewables & Urban Business Line of Laborelec provides business-focused research and expertise services to energy operators worldwide in the fields of future home and collectivities, solar, wind, hybrid and flexible assets, e-Mobility, lighting and energy storage.  

What you’ll be doing

We offer 2 years rotation program, you will have the possibility of being active on operational and R&D projects as an Expert or a Project Manager within our Business Line Renewables & Urban.

Within the R&U business line, different types of projects are managed:

• desktop studies or pilot project realization to solution development and measurement campaigns in domains related to future home and collectivities, solar, wind, storage, green mobility, energy management and hybridisation of technologies (incl. digital and data management).
• development of power & energy management systems (EMS), optimizing the operation of the energy system.

These projects are typically performed in collaboration with research or industrial partners and operational entities of ENGIE and in combination with Laborelec’s expertises (energy storage, renewable energy technologies, electric mobility smart charging, power network studies & measurements, cyber security, IT solutions, …)

The exact program will be defined at the start of your activities depending on your affinities and needs. A personal development program and follow-up will also be in place to support and guide you during your learning process.

 Jouw uitdaging als Field Technician Electrical Protections 

• Je staat in voor het testen en onderhouden van elektrische beveiligingssystemen en dit binnen het klassieke en nucleaire productiepark van Engie (centrales, on- en offshore windmolenparken) en haar industriële klanten.
• Je bereidt onderhoudsactiviteiten aan bekrachtigings- en opstartsystemen van de generatoren binnen onze vloot voor en volgt de uitvoering ter plekke op.
• Je bereidt samen met je team de interventie voor, contacteert indien nodig de contractors/leveranciers, je voert het onderhoud uit en maakt hierover een verslag.
• Je maakt deel uit van een dynamische equipe die meebouwt aan de energietransitie. Je draagt je steentje bij aan de energie-omslag door vernieuwings- of nieuwbouwprojecten te helpen voorbereiden, realiseren en in dienst stellen. Om deze opdracht succesvol uit te voeren kan je rekenen op de begeleiding van directe collega’s binnen jouw equipe en op een elektrische expertenafdeling binnen Engie EMS ELEC.
• Je werkt mee aan verschillende onderhoudstaken binnen een project die zich situeren binnen jouw specialiteit. Je houdt hierbij rekening met veiligheid, kwaliteit en milieu.

Jouw profiel als Field Technician Electrical Protections 

• Je studeerde af als Bachelor Elektriciteit of Elektromechanica (of gelijkwaardig door ervaring)
• Je hebt een eerste ervaring met werken in elektrische beveiligingsinstallaties
• Je bent een teamspeler en bent klantgericht
• Je bent bedreven in Microsoft Office. Kennis van SAP is een pluspunt
• Je moedertaal is Nederlands of Frans, bij voorkeur met een goede kennis van de andere taal. Een goede kennis van het Engels is een must.
• Je bent mobiel en flexibel:
  • je bent bereid om in onvoorziene omstandigheden bijstand te verlenen waar nodig.

Vos défis en tant que Field Technician Electrical Protections

• Vous êtes responsable des tests et de la maintenance des systèmes de protection électrique dans le parc de production classique et nucléaire d'Engie (centrales, parcs éoliens onshore et offshore) et chez ses clients industriels.
• Vous préparez les activités de maintenance des systèmes d'excitation et de démarrage des générateurs de notre flotte et suivez leur exécution sur place.

• Vous faites partie d'une équipe dynamique qui contribue à la transition énergétique. Votre profil en tant que Field Technician Electrical Protections

• Vous êtes diplômé en électricité ou électromécanique (ou équivalent par expérience)
• Vous avez une première expérience de travail dans les installations de protection électrique
• Vous êtes teamplayer et orienté client
• Vous maîtrisez Microsoft Office. La connaissance de SAP est un plus
• Vous avez comme langue maternelle le néerlandais ou le français, de préférence avec une bonne connaissance de l'autre langue. Une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais est indispensable.
• Vous êtes mobile et flexible :
  • Vous êtes prêt à fournir une assistance en cas de circonstances imprévues.
  • Vous pouvez passer environ 10 à 25 % de votre temps à l'étranger (principalement en Europe).
• La possession des certificats suivants est un atout : VOL-VCA, formation BA4-5, formation ATEX, accès nucléaire de l'AFCN.

YOUR CHALLENGE as a Field Technician Generators

As a Field Technician Generators, you will actively participate in various maintenance projects, overhauls and interventions. An extra challenging aspect of the job is that no two days are the same.

• You will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and performing mechanical maintenance work on industrial generators and auxiliary systems.
• At the start of a new construction site, you will be involved in the preparation and, together with the expert engineers from our team, determine the approach, planning and scope of the work to be performed.
• Depending on the project, you will either take on the role of site supervisor or the role of field technician (or both).
• In the role as site supervisor, you will coordinate and execute and be responsible for determining resources, ordering materials and following up on them correctly and on time.
• During execution , you will work with a team of technicians consisting of both colleagues and subcontractors.
• You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the work required and constantly ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
• For unplanned sites or incidents, you will participate in interventions, analyze problems and work hands-on on the generators with the goal of resolving the problem.

YOUR PROFILE as a Field Technician Generators

• You are mechanically and/or electrically skilled (A2/bachelor/graduate electromechanics, electronics, electrical engineering), experience in generator maintenance is a plus.
• You are fluent in English and willing to obtain basic level (A2) in French or Dutch.
• You are flexible in terms of working hours and workplace. You see varying hourly schedules (day, shifts, weekends) as 'part of the job'. You are willing to perform work at our various sites in Belgium and abroad (mainly France and the Netherlands, max. 30%).
