ENGIE is hiring a Student Intern to work for West County Wastewater’s Office of the General Manager. This position is created by a partnership with West County Wastewater (WCW) and ENGIE through the Clean & Green Project, a multi-year upgrade project at the Water Quality Resource & Recovery Plant in Richmond.

 

This student internship program will employ a multi-faceted learning program and creates an opportunity for you to apply your academic preparation to practical work experience in communications. You will work a hybrid schedule from WCW’s Water Quality & Resource Recovery plant in Richmond, CA. This internship is for the Summer semester from June 2024 to August 2024.

 

You will gain experience in marketing, social media work, and community outreach. There will also be public speaking, research, and copyediting. You will assist the Communications Manager, travel within the district to visit work sites, WCW’s Water Quality & Resource Recovery plant.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Must be enrolled at a local university or junior college.  This position is suited for students in STEM programs or studying Environmental Sciences, Communications, Graphic Design, or Communications programs or pathways

 

 

Additional Details

  • Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a three times per week basis and the possibility of some remote work
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $21.00-34.00 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Work Environment 


We are looking for a Senior Dam Engineer to support efficiently the expansion of our activities in Water Business Line. You will be under the responsibility of the Deputy Head of Water APAC. Senior Dam Engineer’s prime focuses will be dam monitoring services as well as all dam design and construction related activities.


You will be integrated into the Tractebel Energy community, a worldwide network of Energy specialists keen on sharing their knowledge.

Missions

 

  • Lead and perform ongoing dam monitoring services for major stakeholders in the region including the comprehensive follow up of high dam impounding and initial phase of operation. It will include mid-term site residency at the dam location as well as regular inspections.
  • Provide technical inputs and expertise and deliverables to the team as well as to the Clients, in the field of design, construction design and supervision as well as refurbishment of dams,
  • Carry out site visits for projects at various stage of the project (from inventory to construction) together with other team members (Geologist…) to handle all matters related to dam design (type, axis, location…).
  • Act as Project manager for services with a major focus on high dam.
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
  • Liaise, share and cooperate with the dam expert community of Tractebel. 
  • Support in BD and Sales for acquiring new projects. 


Focus in Monitoring


TE has successfully developed a sound pipeline of dam monitoring and assistance to operation services in the region. Therefore, dam monitoring activities may represent more than 50% of your time, it includes:

 

  • Perform analysis of monitoring data prepared by operators, provide insights and draw the relevant conclusions in terms of dam and foundation behavior.
  • Be posted for extended periods at site during the critical phase of the dam operation such as impounding phase, the rainy seasons.
  • Detect at the earliest any suspicious or abnormal readings, trends as well as signs or features at site (dam body, surrounding…).
  • Provide initial feedback to the Client about the dam behaviour.
  • Liaise with the other dam experts (based at the head offices in Europe) who will provide remote support on demand as well as with the Project management.
  • Assist the Client in the definition, planning and improvement of their routine maintenance.
  • Perform regular site inspection of the project, including during extended stays at site.
  • Draft monthly and yearly monitoring reports.

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant academic degrees in Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Soil mechanics, structural engineering or equivalent.

SUMMARY:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Sort, open and prep incoming utility invoices with a high degree of accuracy
  • Identify due dates and prep bills appropriately for scanning
  • Differentiate between high and low priority correspondence and process as instructed
  • Identify utility invoices/correspondence containing documents other than an invoice, such as, urgent notices, checks, meter issues, violation notices, etc… and expedite their process
  • Create, scan, and transfer batches, ensuring legible images.
  • Scan high priority correspondence and transfer to appropriate team folders.
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments for internal and external clients.

What You Can Expect

As our Shift Supervisor, at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, OH, you will be responsible for the safe & efficient operation of all current and future operated utility plants/systems on campus which may include but not limited to natural gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping systems, water treatment and any other equipment related to campus utility systems.

Everyday you will supervise Stationary Engineers and Assistant Stationary Engineers on assigned shift, prepare reports and ensure logs and records are properly maintained. You will report to the Operations Engineer.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You posses a valid State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer License
  • You have a minimum 7 years of in steam/power plant operations; including a background in mechanical, electrical and control systems associated with these plants
  • You will assign job rotations for your crew and work tasks to be completed throughout the shift. Ensure all work is being completed
  • You will operate utility plant equipment in adherence to operating, environmental and safety procedures to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and customer performance standards; also monitors the plant control systems for safe and efficient operation of boilers, chillers and associated equipment to ensure key performance indicators are met 
  • Supervises and trains employees on shift.  Determines training needs for direct reports; will also document and address employee performance issues and issues corrective action as needed
  • Follows standard operating procedures and updates/develops new procedures as needed
  • Prepares/submits reports and logs on equipment problems, outages and/or upsets occurring on the shift.  Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis

  • This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), weekends and holidays
  • Capable of frequently standing, walking, balancing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling
  • Major items include PPE, Job Safety Plans, LOTO, Hot Work Permits & Confined Space Permits
  •  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Could involve some lifting

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $30.00 to $47.26 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
