As our Project Management Intern, in Columbus, OH at The Ohio State University you will be responsible for assisting an ENGIE project manager with the purchasing, document management, and invoicing for the Combined Heat and Powerplant (CHP) project. The position will assist with project management processes and will be expected to assist as needed.  Every day you will report to the Project Manager I; and assist with materials procurement and subcontracting agreements related to the CHP project. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Answer incoming calls from utilities, clients and vendors.
• Contact vendors and/or clients to:

  • Retrieve bills late arriving, missing bills not received & accounts without bills
  • Verify final billing and obtain all necessary information
  • Update or correct mailing addresses
  • Provide letters of authorization (LOA)
  • Request late fees to be waived, via phone call
  • Multiple estimated bills

• Searching each account for any payment inconsistencies or errors including, but not limited to:

  • Gap edits
  • Prior balance edits

• Perform critical thinking skills to investigate payment discrepancies such as:

  • Stale checks
  • Returned checks 
  • Void & reissue of payment
  • Advance critical payments

• Some manual data entry for bills as needed.
• Update or correct units of measure as needed
• Perform inactivation of accounts and/or sites
• Delete duplicate bill copies
• Research accounts with zero cost or consumption
• Sending and confirming receipt of Bankruptcy documentation
• Ensure data accuracy
• Ensure that follow-up, email, and correspondence are completed in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification/Knowledge

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.

 

Experience:

What You Can Expect

The Project Management, Advisor is the primary manager of all phases of an energy project, with the objective of successful completion on time and within budget, while maintaining quality, safety, and cash management standards, and producing strong customer references. Assigned projects will include a combination of energy efficiency measures, renewable generation installations, and various carbon reduction strategies, to help public sector, commercial and industrial customers around the United States become more sustainable, save money, and improve processes in their plants and services to their end-users. In this role, you will manage one to several projects simultaneously from early development through post-construction, including design, contract negotiations, and project implementation.

 

In addition to assigning responsibilities to the project team and establishing schedules for individual team members, the Project Management, Advisor oversees various technical aspects of the project. This includes developing the project scope, conducting savings analysis, and ensuring the feasibility of proposed measures. Collaborating closely with the Sales team, you assist in customer presentations and interviews during the project's development phase. You will liaise with the Legal department to prepare and negotiate customer agreements and change orders, ensuring all contractual obligations are met. The Project Management, Advisor is also responsible for managing all cost components throughout project implementation, maintaining precise budget records, and promptly notifying supervisors of any necessary adjustments. You will work alongside the construction manager to establish a comprehensive project schedule with regular progress milestones, ensuring timely completion. Alongside these responsibilities, you actively engage with Accounting to facilitate monthly customer invoicing and address any payment delays or issues proactively. You will ensure compliance with local labor regulations and oversee the timely completion of monitoring set-up packages and final job close-out information.

 

This position can sit in Sacramento, CA and will report to the Director of Project Management.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in which you have gained a knowledge of construction management, engineering elements, and project management functions
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience, including training
  • Proficient in financial analysis skills to predict customer project economics and manage project budgets

As our Project Management Senior (PM) working in a self-managed team concept, you will be a part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the University of Iowa in Iowa City IA.  Our projects are located on two local University campuses, and include the University Hospital. As part of this team you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $50M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-5 years. 

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system.  The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm- and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days are the same, starting with the development stage  you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration  and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and Operations and maintenance staff.

 

Additional duties include the following:

  • Administer design and construction contracts to include the development of project specifications, a detailed scope of work and principle contract provisions, working closely with corporate Contracts Management and the Procurement Department
  • Work with the University stakeholders, ENGIE colleagues, and ENGIE contractors, including engineers, architects, construction firms, and other contractors to develop and execute projects
  • Partner with Program Manager and Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify, justify, and prioritize potential projects

 

 

What You’ll Bring  

  • You have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or  related field from an ABET accredited institution
  • You will have gained a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the successful management of construction or maintenance projects in which you gained experience with managing complex projects to successful completion, such as those involving schools, hospitals, manufacturing or universities 
  • Possess or have the desire to achieve a PMP Certification
  • You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
  • You will have gained expertise in developing work packages for execution to include: statement of scope, change management, performance testing, QA/QC Requirements, Parts/Tools, Man-hours, Material Procurement, technical data Sheets, Drawings/Specifications, Task Procedures and job safety plans
  • You will have gained experience creating and giving presentations and professional  communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other project management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including your management team, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • You are experienced with managing the financial and contractual aspects of capital projects
  • You will have demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members  and exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and the resolution of conflict situations

What You Can Expect

Our intern located at the University of Iowa campus in Iowa city will be learning how to safely treat drinking water at our Grade IV Water Treatment facility where we treat both surface and ground sourced water. The intern will learn to  perform clarification and lime softening methods and will  also utilize reverse osmosis and activated carbon treatment processes. The minimum certification required to independently operate the University of Iowa Water Plant is a Class II Water Operator Certification. The student employment program at the Water Plant will be aimed toward helping students achieve a Water Operator Certification.  As part of your training  you will learn how to properly test water, and to understand the results.  You will also learn the regulatory basis for water quality requirements, and effluent / by-product disposal requirements.

 

Every Day you will learn new tasks in our treatment process. You will take samples and learn to adjust chemicals (automated) based on  the chemical properties of the water. You will be monitoring SCADA screens and learning how the plant is supposed to operate. As well as troubleshooting equipment, while conducting walk-throughs of the plant checking on equipment and logging  testing results and findings from making your rounds.

 

We are very flexible during the school year you can come in and train during any of our operating shifts. to gain hours and operational experience.  You will work rotating shifts on assigned weekends ( we operate three shifts).

Compensation

Salary Range:  $20.00 – $32.00 USD hourly

What You Can Expect

As our Intern, Electrical Engineering, you will supports the Electrical team in preparing, designing, and finalizing design layouts and production modeling of ground mount solar PV installations throughout the USA. You will collaborate with various departments on requests to develop, design, and optimize the projects.  In this role you will be exposed to many of these responsibilities, working closely with the Electrical Engineers whom you will support. This internship program spans three (3) months, running from May to August 2024, based in our Chicago, IL office and reporting to Manager of Electrical Engineering, Engineering & Delivery

 

 

  • Originate and review various PV layouts including rooftop, ground mount, and carport designs
  • Maintain drafting processes and contribute to the improvement of drawing standards across the Engineering team
  • Assist the development and origination team with RFP engineering work
  • Support site assessment and point of interconnection for design development
  • Apply building codes, fire codes, national electric code, and utility interconnection requirements to designs across different jurisdictions

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You are at least a Junior in college pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field

  • You are proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD
  • You have the ability to lead and adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Sales Operations Structuring Manager provides a vital role in Sales Operations team.  They will manage Facility Deal Structuring, Contract Statement of Work Redline Reviews, and inbound tasks to Sales Operations for clarity and appropriate assignment.  This individual will also be expected to function as project manager on critical opportunities as identified and finally will proactively support the review and update of contract service statements of work and proposal scopes.

 

This individual will work with Sales, Delivery, Business Solutions Directors, Pricing, Legal, RFP team, Product Management and others in our organization. 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sales Operations Structuring Manager will work with all client segments and multiple business units across the organization.  They are expected to provide project management on large or critical sales opportunities, ensure any opportunity tasks submitted are complete and will assign out as appropriate, they will manage the Statement of Work (SOW) redline review process internally and occasionally with clients, and will ensure any custom scoping provided for inclusion in proposals or contracts meets approval with appropriate delivery teams.

 

Deal Project Management (20%)

  • Provide project management for large ($400K+) / critical opportunities through the pricing, proposal, redline reviews and delivery assurance process.
  • Develop and manage those project teams which may include both internal and external resources and business partners coordinating and integrating project activities across operational and functional business lines.
  • Define and manage deal risks, contingencies and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify business stakeholders and effectively communicate project status, activities, etc. - both verbal and written.

Manage weekly Facility Deal Structuring Call: own agenda, notes, and action items (20%)

  • Facilitate follow up meetings with internal team(s) to resolve action items.
  • Facilitate one-off Facility Deal Structuring Call(s) as needed.

Direct the SOW redline review process for assigned deals both internally and externally, ensuring all pricing items are reviewed and approved by pricing via approval process.  Will also work with delivery to provide appropriate counters or acceptance of client redlines via SOW approval process (25%)

Responsible for management of the Sales Operations inbox and assign readied deals to appropriate owner.  Ensure all required components are included in the Opportunity and task for pricing / legal / proposal / redline review prior to tasking incoming requests to appropriate team. (25%)

Proactively manage the creation and validation of custom and standard scopes for services. (10%)

  • Custom Scopes will be managed as defined in the Facility
  • Deal Structuring Process.
  • Standard scopes should be proactively reviewed with appropriate stakeholders to ensure SOWs remain valid and align with service delivered.

Decision authority: 

The Sales Operations Structuring Manager will have the authority to send tasking back to sales requesting additional information if identified criteria are not met such that pricing / legal / proposal / redline review cannot be appropriately completed based on the initial task submitted

 

The Sales Operations Structuring Manager will defer to Senior Manager Sales Operations for guidance on items as necessary.

 

 

Education/Certification/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or equivalent business experience.
  • MBA and or PMP a plus

Experience: 

  • 5 years minimum project management, sales support, contract review or combination thereof.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to successfully multi task on numerous open items.
  • Experience with process improvement best practices
  • Superior project management and strong financial acumen
  • Strong communication skills / ability to communicate effectively with “C” level.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Collaborative negotiator comfortable in contract language negotiation.
