What You Can Expect
As our Auxiliary Operator, at ENGIE’s Medical Area Total Energy Plant (MATEP), you will be responsible for assisting the Watch and Assistant Watch Engineers in the operation and routine operating maintenance of steam, chilled water, and electrical generating equipment for MATEP, LLC, satellite facilities, and utility distribution system. You will also operate equipment from local control stations and perform regular inspection tours of the plant distribution system, maintain logs, monitor instrument readings and equipment operation and perform other miscellaneous related duties assigned.
You will:
- Assist in the operation and routine operating maintenance of boilers and plant auxiliary including fuel oil, water treatment, cooling water, compressed air, chilled water, condensate and feedwater systems, and related equipment
- Perform regular inspection tours of the plant and distribution system including underground tunnels and electrical power systems
- Maintain logs and other operating records and advises Shift Supervisor of system problems
- Take corrective action, obtaining advice and direction from Assistant Watch Engineers, Watch Engineers, and the Shift Supervisor, as necessary
- Perform routine operating maintenance, including cleaning of equipment and plant work areas
- Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws
- Perform other related duties as required
You will be reporting to the Watch Shift Supervisor
What You’ll Bring
- Must have valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Second Class Fireman’s License
- A minimum high school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years applicable experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 and Windows 10
- Familiarity with MAXIMO maintenance system
Additional Details
This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/might drive company vehicle
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
This position consists of 25% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
Proficient with database, spreadsheet, email, and word processing software
Must be able to tolerate dust and other airborne particles and other materials such as diesel and lube oils
Under certain conditions while working in the plant, may be required to wear a respirator
Required to wear safety equipment and clothing where appropriate
Intermittent lifting, and moving up to 50-pound objects alone; heavier may need to be lifted with assistance
Compensation
Hourly: $51.15 USD hourly
Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 877. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union.
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
