Energy Procurement Analyst

SUMMARY:

The Energy Procurement Analyst is a key role in providing comprehensive conventional/renewable energy procurement and analytic services by supplying product recommendations, energy market and utility tariff analysis, pricing evaluation, and contract management to ENGIE Impact client delivery teams and clients. They are experts in assigned deregulated and renewable energy markets. This role provides these services throughout North America markets, as well as globally on an as needed basis.

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide conventional/renewable energy procurement consulting and analytic services to ENGIE Impact client delivery teams including, but not limited to: RFP development, market assessment, risk management, consultative procurement recommendations, strategy development, contract negotiation, contract management, and product management.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with ENGIE Impact stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned regulatory markets.
  • Communicate with suppliers, utilities, local distribution companies, and public utility commissions to gather timely, accurate, and complete energy market intelligence in advancement of client strategies.
  • Maintain relationships with supplier partners through frequent communication.
  • Develop conventional/renewable energy procurement services deliverables, tools, and processes. Evaluate and support new opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive toolsets for risk management, conventional/renewable energy product comparison, and market assessment for ENGIE Impact teams.
  • Routinely prepare and deliver conventional/renewable energy market and product updates.
  • Develop and present training to Energy Supply Management (ESM) staff on conventional/renewable energy markets and products.
  • Assist in training new employees.

Education/Certification/Knowledge: 

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent.
  • Engineering degree a plus.

Experience:

  • Three years of relevant experience, particularly in the areas of energy procurement, energy contracting, renewable energy products, utility tariffs, finance, risk management, or quanitative analyst. 
  • Utility experience or knowledge of utility bill calculations preferred. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to work both collaboratively within teams and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skill level required.
  • Ability to create macros and programming within Excel and Power BI capabilities highly desired.
  • Quality presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting utility, tariff, and wholesale market data.
  • Must be detail oriented, flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle deadlines and high stress situations on a periodic basis.
  • Occasional travel to client locations may be required.

The pay range for this role is: $63,000-$96,000. 

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. This student internship program will employ a multi-faceted learning program and creates an opportunity for you to apply your academic preparation to practical work experience in communications. You will work a hybrid schedule from WCW’s Water Quality & Resource Recovery plant in Richmond, CA. This internship is for the Summer semester from June 2024 to August 2024.

 

You will gain experience in marketing, social media work, and community outreach. There will also be public speaking, research, and copyediting. You will assist the Communications Manager, travel within the district to visit work sites, WCW’s Water Quality & Resource Recovery plant.

As our SCADA Engineer Advisor in Houston, TX you will provide operational support of SCADA and Generation Management Systems (GMS) for ENGIE’s GMS IT team to system operations in Real Time Desk. Under limited supervision you will provide technical support for maintenance such as system upgrades. You will be responsible for reviewing SCADA database points list and configure in AspenTech Monarch database. Every day you will perform point-to-point checkout with Plant personnel.

 

  • Add PI tags and historizing critical points using Monarch as well as Aveva PI Historian
  • Configure ICCP Points and establish ICCP communications with ISOs
  • Review engineering and network drawings and create Monarch displays, as well as PI Vision displays
  • Attend critical meetings with all stakeholders and provide periodic updates to upper management
  • Assist with system upgrades of the SCADA GMS System
  • Support internal and external groups and work with interfacing with external systems as necessary
  • Work with PI tools and support external customers interfaces to Engie’s PI systems
  • Ensure compliance with current NERC/CIP requirements and other protocols
  • Develop process and procedures related to the SCADA GMS systems and keep up with documentation

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience in IT and OT environments
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in application support and development with some IT Project Management experience.
  • Detailed understanding of the NERC CIP requirements and prior program implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of AspenTech (OSII) Monarch platform - OpenView, OpenFEP, OpenICCP, OpenCALC (including Formulas), OpenSCADA, & OpenAGC
  • Experienced in  working on commissioning Generation Plants (Wind/Solar/Battery)

  • Exposure to working in one or different energy markets ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, SPP, CAISO, MISO)
  • Demonstrated experience with SCADA protocols including DNP 3.0 over TCP/IP, PI historians, ICCP, and IT security related applications. Proficient with Windows operating systems and commonly used programming technologies such as C, C#, Java, Visual Basic, .Net and SQL. Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Maintain SCADA / GMS systems to support unit dispatch to generation resources
  • Ability to communicate efficiently in verbal and written correspondence with internal and external groups as well as stakeholders
  • Assist the compliance with energy markets and NERC protocols and guides, and other applicable regulations.

 

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy for local candidates (minimum 2 days in the office) at the Houston, TX office  and open to remote for non-local candidates

SUMMARY:

  • Sort, open and prep incoming utility invoices with a high degree of accuracy
  • Identify due dates and prep bills appropriately for scanning
  • Differentiate between high and low priority correspondence and process as instructed
  • Identify utility invoices/correspondence containing documents other than an invoice, such as, urgent notices, checks, meter issues, violation notices, etc… and expedite their process
  • Create, scan, and transfer batches, ensuring legible images.
  • Scan high priority correspondence and transfer to appropriate team folders.
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments for internal and external clients.
