B2B Operations Analyst

Overview

 

Excellent opportunity for a B2B Operations Analyst to join our Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) ANZ business to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral economy by providing support to the B2B Operations team with billing and billing-related activities including reconciliations, reporting and operational support.

The role reports to the B2B Customer Operations Manager and can be worked flexibly from our Southbank office and from home.  Ideally, this is a full time role, however reasonable requests for part time work would be considered (0.80 FTE).

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

The B2B Operations Analyst will work closely with the B2B Operations, Sales and Performance Management teams and be responsible for the following:

  • Revenue assurance operations, including:
    • Perform monthly billing reconciliations (BREC)
    • Maintenance of the existing system used for BREC, including oversight and responsibility for any potential migration to a new system
    • Timely completion of the monthly network charge reconciliations
    • Pursue resolution of charge disputes with distribution networks and system vendor
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with distribution networks

 

  • Supporting the Billing functions within the B2B Operations team, including:
    • Assisting the billing and commercial teams in annual price changes
    • Assisting in customer network tariff optimisation, as led from the wider B2B team
    • Assisting with monthly billing activities
    • Responsible for completing manual or ad hoc billing requests

 

  • Providing Technical Support to the B2B Operations team, including:
    • Supporting internal IT documenting business requirements for the Operations team
    • Supporting user acceptance testing of various applications relevant to Operations
    • Working with other team members to introduce improvements to the billing system
    • Troubleshooting and supporting technology used by the Operations team – e.g. Power BI system used for data and financial reconciliations

 

 

About You:

 

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in the billing and reconciliations of commercial customers and have understanding of market transactions and network tariffs for electricity.

You will also have:

    • Ability to be analytical and possess attention to detail
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite
    • Experience in a technical support role
    • Applied problem-solving (and dispute resolution) skills
    • Sound administration skills
    • Pro-active approach and be a self-starter, demonstrating high initiative
    • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise workload effectively and autonomously
    • Ability to clearly articulate and define issues/outcomes

Main Roles and Responsibilities

Vision and Purpose

  • In collaboration with the management team, develop the strategic vision for the country including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships at the provincial and national levels.

Financial Management

Reporting & Balance sheet management

    • Monthly Financial management reports
    • BvA presentation by the 6th of the following month.
    • Annual IFRS statements.
  • Timely analysis of all GL accounts including stocks reconciliation by the 5th of the following month.
  • Accurate/reliable financial reports. Error margin lower than 5% of net profit
  • Complete report of the open items and required action by the 17th of the following month. Target Zero open items.
  • Reconciliation of intercompany books.

Working Capital & Treasury Management

  • Accurate and timely planning and updates on Cashflow, update by Monday 1pm of the following week.
  • Creditors’ management - Ensure 10% of creditors should not exceed 90 days. Debtors should be as per approved policy, over dues should not exceed 5%
  • Cash flow planning ensuring bank facilities are within limits. 100% compliance. No unplanned overdrawn accounts or default in loan payments

Projects

  • Ensure proper project appraisal & approval process. Actual project economics results deviation < 10%.
  • Continuous project monitoring Capex vs. budget review. Unapproved variance or overruns < 10%.
  • Ensure project returns monitoring upon commissioning to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Projects Post implementation review within 1 month after the project is commissioned.

Tax planning and compliance

  • Ensure compliance with revenue/tax authorities. Nil penalties/interest payments.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Lead and direct the entire budgeting exercise
  • Lead budget reviews and forecast during the year to ensure the company remains focused and aligned with the targets set in the budget
  • Ensure that the budgeted EBIT is achieved to realize the agreed profitability targets

Cost Management

  • Lead and direct efforts to reduce cost and control expenditure
  • Constantly monitor the market with the operational teams to identify opportunities for reducing cost of operations

Internal Controls and Audit

  • Liaise and coordinate with external auditors ensuring that audit activities are carried out accordingly within the required timeframe
  • Develop necessary internal control procedures to increase efficiency of operations and minimize business exposure
  • Constantly review internal control procedures to ensure they are updated and properly adapting to business requirements
  • Ensure compliance with URA and applicable local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting

Leading People

  • Be an effective relationship builder at all levels, both internally as well as with external partners
  • Hire, develop, sustain and lead a successful technically focused team
  • Responsible for selection, training, development and termination of all Country finance and accounting staff. 

Procurement and Administration

  • Manage the deliverables of Procurement & Administration, and ensure compliance with relevant policies, processes and procedures.

Knowledge and skills Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in financial management.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principals, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • An analytical mind with good organizational skills.
  • Outstanding leadership skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and relevant field/ Full ACCA/CPA
  • Masters Degree in accounting or finance will be an added advantage

Compensation

Salary Range: $184,200 – $275,310 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

What You Can Expect

As the Head of Interconnection you will be responsible for managing the interconnection and grid integration process to support the company's overall development and operational goals in California Independent System Operator “CAISO”. Focus will be on the Company’s existing ~10 GW pipeline of utility scale stand-alone energy storage projects in CAISO, MISO, and ERCOT as well as new project analysis. You will be responsible for transmission-related topics including tariffs, planning, technical evaluation, contract negotiations and the overall interconnection process through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects.

 

Every day in this role you will be responsible for managing the interconnection process and monitor key milestones throughout the lifecycle of the project from early-stage development to commercial operation.

 

  • Coordinate, review and interpret interconnection and transmission studies performed by utilities and outside consultants
  • Function as main liaison with project developers, and third-party consultants, on matters relating to interconnection to provide technical insight and business solutions to reduce interconnection cost and remove obstacles to project development
  • Perform/manage analysis to predict interconnection capacity, deliverability, and other key parameters to support project development and have experience with load flow modeling and analyses
  • Conduct due-diligence review for potential interconnection and transmission risks related to potential projects, portfolio acquisitions, and commercial transactions; provide recommendations to the acquisition team
  • Perform transmission assessments and policy reviews to forecast future system conditions and determine commercial viability to support development and construction activities
  • Negotiation of contractual agreements with utilities
  • Collaborate with engineering team in optimizing project’s engineering design in support of grid integration requirements 
  • Represent the Company to establish and maintain productive relationships with key utility and CAISO personnel, industry groups, regulators and other stakeholders on issues related to transmission and interconnection
  • Monitor regional transmission planning process and interconnection policy changes; participate as stakeholder in transmission and market-related regulatory activities as necessary with collaboration with the Company’s regulatory and development teams
  • Review utility transmission planning reports and present findings to the Company
  • Provide technical support for project development and acquisition activities in the evaluation of transmission system and planning issues
  • Actively monitor the progress of required system upgrades and identify creative mitigation solutions to support development of projects codes

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, or another Analytical field required
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience and ten (10) years of experience in CAISO transmission planning or generation interconnection with a minimum at a developer or consulting firm
  • Deep understanding of the interconnection process in CAISO
  • Familiar with power system modeling and transmission planning/generator interconnection studies
  • Experience in transmission planning, grid operation and generator interconnection topics in CAISO
  • Have established or able to establish strong working relationships with utilities, CAISO, and industry stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze power flow and system impact studies for interconnection of multiple types of generation
  • Understanding of electrical diagrams/systems and preliminary site plans
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, capable of applying advanced engineering principles to identify and solve complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips

Compensation

Salary Range: $232,900 – $341,550 USD annually

What You Can Expect

Our Substation Electrician, based at the University of Iowa campus, is responsible for installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repairs of electric utility substation, distribution and production plant electrical equipment including but not limited to medium voltage switchgear, protection and control systems, battery systems, instrumentation, motor starters and controls.

Daily, you will install, operate, troubleshoot, calibrate and maintain utility electrical systems including circuit breakers, switchgear, protection and control systems, battery systems, instrumentation, motor starters and controls conduit, cable and wiring systems up through 15kV.  As an experienced Substation Electrician, you will determine the jobsite work sequences and safety procedures required. You will procure materials, coordinate outages, complete work and place systems back into service as well as interpret and maintain wiring diagrams, schematics, system logs, drawings and documentation on utility systems. You will need to assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of program logic controller (PLC) based auxiliary systems,  design and implement control system changes or new control schemes and advises utility staff of changes and install and configure new modules, control stations, firmware and software revisions for the utility computer-based control systems. You monitor system performance, using system interfaces, and make recommendations for system improvements. You provide functional supervision including training and instructions to other staff.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • This role requires a minimum educational level of a High school diploma / GED or equivalent
  • An Iowa Class A or B Journeyman’s or Master Electrician License
  • A minimum of two (2) years at a Journeyman level in utility systems, industrial, process or power plants
  • Expertise in electric Motor controls, station power systems, and electronic control systems
  • Knowledgeable of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems, CAD systems and their associated database management systems
  • Ability to use tools and industry standard methods of troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and electronic utility equipment
  • Expertise in the principles, methods, and techniques used in the electrical, instrumentation and control trades including  the principles of electronics
  • Practice of safety  precautions and  mitigate trade occupational hazards while working in confined spaces, aerial or elevated locations, extreme temperatures, excavations, and other environmental caused conditions
  • Experience applying knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national electrical and safety codes, equipment manufacturers and others
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, control system drawings and repair manuals
  • Calibration of utility instrumentation and the  installation and configuration of control system hardware and software
  • Maintain records and system documentation,  analyze system problems, then recommend and implement system changes

  • Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals
  • Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required
  • Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses
  • This position consist of 50% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $32.79 – $48.76 USD hourly
