BMS Engineer

Position Overview – Purpose of the Role

Being involved in the design, engineering, installation, pre commissioning, commissioning and handing over of BMS Systems in Energy Efficiency projects, in accordance to the project specifications and time frame, engineering adopted codes and good engineering practices.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Performing site surveys and studying all technical drawings, documents and any revisions thereon related to BMS scope with focus on HVAC control and energy management system.
  • Designing BMS upgrade of the existing systems/new installation including preparation of IO lists, system riser diagram, DDC controllers,IO modules and fiel devices selection.
  • Cost estimation of the BMS scope based on the design.
  • Preparing detailed Request for proposal (RFP) document for BMS related scope to share with multiple vendors/system integrators/subcontractors.
  • Working on Analysing and finalizing the technical proposals of different suppliers / service providers, and provide the feedback on technical design ensuring that proposed solution meet project specification.
  • Preparing project engineering submittals (Material Submittals, Method Statements, Shopdrawings, Operation and Maintenance manuals,…etc.)
  • Preparing optimized sequence of operation for HVAC systems (AHUs, Chillers, VAVs, FCUs etc.) with a focus on energy savings and comfort control.
  • Advising on construction methodologies in coordination with other disciplines/contractors/ subcontractors prior to construction.
  • Ensuring that any variations and instructions received from the client are incorporated into the latest construction issued drawings and auctioned by the construction team.
  • Supervise and document the commissioning process in the building.
  • Testing & Commissioning: document functional and performance tests of all HVAC systems.
  • Ensuring the Operations & Maintenance manuals as well as handover documents are in line with contract specification and requirements.
  • Coordinate with client for inspections and final approvals.
  • Coordinate with Authorities having jurisdiction for necessary approvals.
  • Conducting training to the owner operation and maintenance staff on the operation of the Building Management System.
  • Analysing and resolving field problems.
  • Manage the day to day site works.
  • Monitor the subcontractors / service provider performance, and follow up the engineering deliverables (engineering studies, submittals,…)
  • Record the site works progress and validate service providers payment requests.
  • Follow up the material deliveries, and monitor the stocks of material and systems related to the BMS.
  • Engage in the planning of the execution of BMS activities in line with the overall project plan, and cooridnate the final outcome with the planing department.
  • Ensure HSE policy and procedures are followed
  • Assist the energy audit team in the activities of site surveys and existing systems analysis.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • 5 Years minimum of experience as a BMS engieneer in an engineering and contracting or similar industry in GCC
  • Bachelor degree,
  • Familiar with international codes and standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, BSRIA,...)
  • Familiar with KSA building codes
  • IT skills.
  • Knowledge of BMS/control of HVAC systems is mandatory, in addition to the ability to understand and establish the sequence of operation of various HVAC systems (FAHUs, AHUs, Fans, pumps, motors, VFDs,..)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is a plus
  • Certified with any of the Main BMS Systems (Siemens, Niagra, Honeywell, Delta…etc.),
  • Hands-on experience with MS office and MS excel,
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCad,
  • Knowledge in the local market suppliers / service providers is a plus

Responsibilities  

  • Participate in the software planning sessions, together with product managers and engineers to discuss delivery time estimates, risks and key practical considerations such as technical debt, feasibility at scale etc.  

  • Own initiative and complete it from start to finish, provide guidance to other engineers and deliver a complete solution subject to all engineering best practices, timeline considerations and potential dependencies in the software with no supervision.  

  • Represent technical team in business conversations in a range of scopes and work closely with stakeholders to deliver solutions which fit the needs of the business and provide fairly accurate effort estimates and risk assessment  

  • Participate in Peer-Review, identify and document technical debt and contribute to delivering high quality software solutions  

  • Participate and strongly contribute to architectural discussion on important areas of software that impact performance and reliability of our software. Identify and communicate risk in approaches or implementation details, technical debt, assumptions, etc.  

  • Contribute to change of processes, adoption of best industry practices and mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance  

  • Provide support where engineering intervention is required (e.g. due to bugs or performance problems) 

  

Knowledge and skills    

Experience:  

  • 5 years of practical experience in software engineering of which at least 2 years in senior or lead role  

  • Programming language proficiency in Ruby and Rails and front-end/JavaScript frameworks  

  • Proven track record of building quality software with TDD  

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering design and architectural patterns   

  • Experience creating and maintaining scalable web applications with high availability, observability and structured logging  

  • API design to scale in Ruby  

  • Good knowledge of object relational mappers and their implementation design patterns  

  • Appreciation for detailed source code documentation and organized code structuring  

  • Software deployment pipelines and best practice (CI/CD)  

  • Excellent knowledge of computer algorithms and solid computer science fundamentals  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 

 

Good to have experience   

  • Experience in developing large production grade web applications with python, java or Go

Your mission   

 

As Fire Safety Engineer in our Nuclear department you will contribute to our mission everyday by playing a crucial role in  the Fire Competence Center (Fire Profession), which reports to the Professions department of the Nuclear Business Area, is responsible for the following activities (non-exhaustive list): 

 

  • Design studies, feasibility studies, and modification studies for fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection systems.
  • Diagnostics and audits of fire protection systems.
  • Modeling, calculations, and analyses (water fire protection systems, fire propagation, smoke, ventilation, internal explosion, internal flooding).
  • Risk analysis for fire, internal explosion, and internal flooding.
  • R&D (Research projects, development of integrated modeling and analysis tools).
  • Expertise in fire detection and protection systems.
  • Operational support and maintenance for fire protection equipment and systems.
  • Technical specifications, purchasing, and contract management. -Monitoring the construction and commissioning of fire protection equipment and installations.

Your key responsibilities   

 

As a member of the Fire Business Unit, you will be responsible for the following activities, working closely with project managers, experts, and clients:

 

  • Conducting and/or reviewing risk analyses (fire/explosion/internal flooding) in accordance with applicable regulations, standards, and internal methodologies.
  • Conducting and/or reviewing calculations and modeling:
  • Conducting and/or reviewing analyses in accordance with applicable methodologies and identifying appropriate and pragmatic recommendations that meet the needs of the project and the client.
  • Conducting and/or reviewing risk analyses by defining scenarios and assumptions, selecting the correct models, collecting and implementing data in the model, performing calculations and analyzing the results, and synthesizing them.
  • Validating the consistency between the required and existing fire protection/detection resources. -Include requirements from other trades (HVAC, GC, EI&C, etc.), project safety guidelines, unit safety reports, insurers, codes, norms, and regulations.
  • Verify compliance of the study with the on-site situation, include feedback, and prepare reports (high level of quality).
  • Determine and recommend appropriate on-site modifications (protection/detection means).
  • Presentation of analyses and conclusions to the Client.
  • Manage interfaces and ensure effective communication between the various stakeholders.
  • Coaching of junior engineers and monitoring of subcontracted studies/simulations.
  • Ensure that the budget, planning, and scope of studies are consistent with project requirements.
  • Assist the Project Manager and the Owner in technical meetings and discussions with the Safety Authorities.
  • Be the SPOC / Fire Safety Engineer contact for a large program, project, or client site.
  • Participate in conferences, standards committees, working groups developing or updating standards, and research projects.

  • Civil Engineer diploma (Mechanical engineer, Fire safety Engineer, Nuclear Engineer is an asset) or High Engineering School diploma (ENSAM, ENSI Bourges, INSA Centre-Val de Loire, INSA Rouen, ENSE or equivalent), + Master 2 Fire engineering is an asset.
  • 5 to 10 years of proven experience in Fire engineering.
  • Industries experience, Nuclear is an asset.

  • Support CRE during emergency situations.
  • Carry out the sample analysis of the plant process steam water cycle in cases where Chemist is not on-site and on Demin water, distillate, potable water and other samples
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of various plant systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety and housekeeping of the plant.
  • Initiates routine operational activities.

 

Maintenance activity

 

  • Perform lube oil top up as required on plant equipment.
  • Perform routine site inspections on routine basis to regular  update plant equipment status.
  • Carry out dewatering routine in specified areas of the plant as required.
  • Raising Work Orders Regarding Defects and Abnormal Conditions.
  • Raise service request in CMMS system for defects coordinates with the Shift Team Leader for approval.
  • Assistance to maintenance personnel to pinpoint equipment defects when necessary.
  • Confirm the performance of the equipment after attending the defects.

 

Management of Plant Chemicals

 

  • Responsible for changing over of chemical tanks.
  • Responsible for ensuring that sufficient chemical tank levels are available for plant operations.

 

Maintaining Water Quality

 

  • To ensure the export quality of potable water to meet with the WHO guide lines and potable water quality standards set in PWPA.

Tus principales responsabilidades serán: 

  • Establecer contacto inicial con pobladores de áreas de influencia del proyecto, identificando grupos de interés y sus posiciones respecto al proyecto.
  • Identificar usos del territorio (culturales, ancestrales, comerciales, etc.) y riesgos sociales asociados al acceso y negociación de tierras.
  • Gestionar información de línea de base social para permisos ambientales.
  • Medir el nivel de vinculación positiva de la población con el proyecto.
  • Elaborar informes de diagnóstico social territorial y atender quejas, reclamos y consultas de la población y grupos involucrados.
  • Monitorear indicadores sociales quincenal y mensualmente, así como preparar informes semanales sobre monitoreo social y cambios en liderazgos.

What You Can Expect
As the Field Technical Trainer Advisor, you will develop and conduct technical training programs for Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage technicians. This position will not only educate and standardize training materials but participate in the quality control programs and ensure all technicians are evaluated and scored based on their technical abilities. Reporting to the VP of Field Services, this position is located at the Five Wells Solar site in Rogers, TX, however, the trainer will travel to various sites as a subject matter expert and will provide training at offices in both Houston, TX and Denver, CO.

In this role your key responsibilities everyday will be:

  • Develop, conduct, monitor, test and score technical training programs for all internal wind, solar, and battery energy storage technicians based on their technical abilities
  • Establish relationships with internal customers to develop course materials and measure feedback
  • Coordinate training schedule with Regional Operations Directors to meet the training demands of the company
  • Select and/or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works
  • Conduct training sessions covering various specified areas including on-the-job training, refresher training
  • Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of training
  • Travel and perform on-the-job training on various platforms of Mega Watt (MW) class wind turbines and MW class invertors
  • Develop reporting on the progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Report to senior management on training performance and provide recommendations on process improvements in work environments and training procedures
  • Own all aspects of classroom instruction including preparation, consumables re-order, inspections and logging of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and devices


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned practical training skills, making it ideal for developing and delivering training programs, renewable energy, or industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in the renewable energy (wind/solar) industry or a combination of degree, education, industry experience or military service will be considered
  • Must have experience teaching, setting and developing wind turbine and / or solar technician-related curricula and maintaining training materials on prudent industry best practices for the solar and / or wind industry
  • Experience training theory in the areas of electrical safety, qualified electrical work, convertor/invertor, hydraulic and mechanical
  • Ability to engage with all students in the classroom, understanding the core elements of adult learners
  • Capable to be flexible and meet the changing needs of a dynamic, growing company
  • Capable of directing and defining new training programs based on the needs of the company and industry
  • Experience in project management

What You Can Expect

As a VP Finance Business Control, you will administer the finance function of ENGIE Energy Marketing North America, Inc (“EEMNA”).  The primary functions of this role include forecasting and reporting on the financial results of EEMNA activities in the US, and implementing controls to ensure the accuracy and transparency of those financial results.  In addition to financial controller duties, you will participate in strategic financial planning, liquidity management, and leadership in new initiatives. You will have significant communication with all Supply & Energy Management (“SEM”) functions as well as the financial functions in the North American shared service center and Paris. 

 

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of periodic financial reports to local management, Supply and Energy Management (SEM) financial function, and limited external users.  Reporting also includes gathering of KPI’s and KRI’s to provide operational context to financial statement users.  Coordinate with technical accounting and ENGIE group expertise centers to make sure EEMNA activities are presented in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:  Oversee the preparation and presentation of annual budgets and forecast updates.  Participate in and develop financial assumptions for long-term strategic planning, including the impacts of acquisitions and divestitures.  Develop reporting metrics for local management to quantify the risk and return of specific business activities 
  • Internal Controls:  Design, confirm implementation and coordinate testing of internal controls, both financial and operational, for all entities under EEMNA scope
  • Audit Support:  Coordinate all EEMNA audits, both external and internal ensuring timely delivery of audit requests and validation of audit findings
  • Support Function Coordination:  Coordinate with GBS (Global Business Support) and Hub support functions to insure adequate delivery of service.  Insure these functions are informed timely on changes to EEMNA’s operations and transaction requiring shared service support. 
  • Financial Management:  Develop cash flow forecasting and work with North American treasury team to maintain adequate capitalization and predictable utilization of the cash pool.  Manage postings to utilities and state authorities to support retail sales activity
  • Participate in special projects, merger, acquisition and divestiture activities, and the structuring of large transactions on an as-needed basis

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 10 years finance experience and 8 years working in energy commodity markets
  • Understanding of power and gas markets and associated products used to trade both traditional and green power in deregulated US markets
  • Knowledge of IFRS and auditing procedures
