Job Summary 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT-OT Engineer to join our ENGIE India team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical IT-OT background and be prepared for extensive site travels to support onsite issues during the implementation, commissioning, and post-commissioning operations of solar and wind power plants, while base location will be Pune, India.

Main Objectives 

The IT-OT Engineer for Renewable Sites will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of renewable energy plant operations. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining integrated systems that support the seamless operation of renewable energy sites, including wind, solar power plants. The engineer will ensure robust data communication, real-time monitoring, and control systems, while adhering to industry standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, IT-OT integration, and strong networking skills. Additionally, strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Oversee and optimize the technical IT-OT operations of renewable energy production infrastructures (solar, wind, etc.), ensuring efficient operations.
  • Monitor and manage the troubleshooting of any IT-OT issues happening on the solar and wind farms with central support and/or subcontractors.

SCADA Systems Management:

  • Ensure the proper follow-up on the maintenance plan for SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and managing issues related to cabling, optic fibre.
  • Handle level 1 troubleshooting of the SCADA system and manage the troubleshooting of any OT issues at solar and wind sites.

Cybersecurity Management:

  • Work with management and CISO to implement cybersecurity and support IT/OT risk management
  • Coordinate with the O&M department to ensure IT/OT systems properly support emergency response procedures.
  • Coordinate with O&M for the procurement and inventory of spare parts for IT and SCADA systems.

IT System Management:

  • Provide level 1 proximity support on all IT-related issues, including user support for workstations, applications, networking and IT consumables.
  • Manage the network configuration (switching, routing) and ensure the proper follow-up on the maintenance plan for industrial telecom systems.
  • Responsible for the obsolescence follow-up process (including management and patching).
  • Ensure the compliance of IT/OT-related contractors working on-site with ENGIE guidelines.
  • Report any IT-OT related abnormalities, incidents, or process deviations spotted while monitoring the systems.
  • Ensure that all IT/OT equipment (servers, control systems, SCADA, communication devices, etc.) complies with ENGIE and regulatory standards.
  • Regularly interact with the O&M department to align IT/OT systems with broader ENGIE protocols and stay updated on the latest regulations.
  • Provide hands-on management of Network devices and systems
  • Manage support activities of external providers for the delivery of network services and project tasks
  • Manage network systems to ensure compliance is maintained with cybersecurity policies
  • Provide input into the risk management programme ensuring that Information Technology systems Disaster Recovery plans - include network services and other network elements.
  • In the event of a cybersecurity incident perform tasks as directed by CISO
  • Coordinate with technology and business groups to assess, implement, and monitor IT-related security risks/hazards
  • Report security performance against established security metrics

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) including PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and IPC, PPC.
  • Familiarity with automation hardware and software, Windows Server and client architecture, and IT hardware for power plants.
  • Understanding of OT networking, OT network components, communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC/UA, TCP/IP, Profinet, and OT server and storage components.
  • Technical hands-on experience in networking , routing , switching.
  • Experience in implementing cybersecurity tools for OT environments.
  • Knowledge of industry standards like ISA/IEC 62443.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience managing a complex IT and/or OT system.
  • 5-8 years of experience in IT/OT systems, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA architecture is mandatory.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, cybersecurity, and IT support.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to various sites for onsite support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexible mindset, able to work outside the comfort zone.
  • Certifications CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Certified Automation Professional

( Desirable not mandatory)

Preferably from Gujarat or Rajasthan native

Job Purpose/Mission   

This position will be part of the Global Data team. Als meet- en regeltechnieker speel je een belangrijke rol in de werking van onze thermische centrale. Je werkt actief mee aan diverse onderhoudsprojecten, revisies en interventies. Door deze wisselende activiteiten is geen enkele dag dezelfde.

  • Zowel via onze operatoren en SAP worden storingen binnen het domein van instrumentatie en automatisatie aan jou gemeld.
  • Je staat in voor de probleemanalyse en brengt samen met ons team het probleem in kaart.
    • Je stelt een diagnose op van de defecten.
    • Je staat zelf in voor de voorbereiding van de herstelling:
    • Je maakt de planning op.
    • Je creëert werkorders om vergunningen aan te vragen.
  • Je voert vervolgens zelf de herstellingen uit “in the field”:
    • Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het plaatsen, afregelen, onderhouden en vernieuwen van diverse meet en regelinstrumentatie
    • Je verwerkt meetgegevens en automatisatie van processen in een DCS of PLC omgeving;
  • Je rapporteert volgens de geldende afspraken rond veiligheid, milieu en kwaliteit.

Je werkt hoofdzakelijk vanuit de centrale van Knippegroen.

 

 

JOUW PROFIEL als meet- en regeltechnieker:

 

  • Je bent technisch geschoold (bachelor/graduaat elektromechanica, elektronica, elektrotechnieken, automatisatie) en hebt bij voorkeur reeds enkele jaren ervaring “in the field” binnen een industriële omgeving.
  • Heb je kennis van procesautomatisatie (regelaars, metingen, …) of ben je PLC vaardig, dan heb je alvast een streepje voor!
  • Hoe dan ook, doen de termen instrumentatie, energieprocessen en controlesturingen bij jou een belletje rinkelen en wil je je hier verder in verdiepen.
  • Je spreekt goed Nederlands of bent bereid om dit binnen een termijn van 1 jaar te leren met ondersteuning van ENGIE.

JOUW UITDAGING als Filiaalverantwoordelijke

What you will do:

  • You will contribute to market prospecting by providing consultancy on energy networks as well as on optimal access to them, in the context of identifying new renewable energy projects.
  • You will manage the documentation necessary to obtain access to electrical networks for new development projects, from project initiation to the completion of the execution phase (COD), and, if necessary, you will attend the meetings with state authorities.
  • You will organize, under the guidance of the Grid Access Manager, the meetings and documents necessary for the development of each project.
  • You will continuously monitor the impact of the evolving economic, political, regulatory and technological context on investments and projects of TSO (Transmission System Operator)/ DSO (Distribution System Operator).
  • You will collaborate with DSO, TSO, and stakeholders throughout the entire project lifecycle for connection/ access to the network: from the authorization and access stage to the construction completion stage.
  • You will manage the relationship with internal or external consultants on topics such as: solution analysis, planning and authorization of transformer stations, transformers, transfer stations, and aspects related to cable routes, technical evaluation, and preparation of the work register.
  • You will support the project team by analysing risks and defining the necessary preventive/ corrective actions for network access, in order to meet project deadlines.
  • You will obtain approvals from DSO and TSO for network access, in accordance with the company's strategy.
  • You will provide technical and commercial analyses regarding offers and contracts related to network connection works.
  • You will monitor the schedule and stages of the projects you manage.
  • You will support the procurement team during negotiations and tenders for network access services and works.
  • You will ensure periodic reporting/ presentations for monitoring and controlling activities related to access to electrical networks.

 

Desired education, expertise, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field: Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering;
  • Experience working with HV/MV power systems;
  • Good knowledge of regulatory framework;
  • Knowledge of project management methodology;
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and evaluation;
  • Thorough knowledge of technical standards and ANRE regulations;
  • Basic knowledge of the energy market;
  • Advanced skills in PVsyst, WASP, Windex/Atlas Wind Global, AutoCAD;

What you’ll be doing

 

We offer 2 years rotation program, you will have the possibility of being active on operational and R&D projects as an Expert or a Project Manager within our Business Line Renewables & Urban.

Within the R&U business line, different types of projects are managed:

  • desktop studies or pilot project realization to solution development and measurement campaigns in domains related to future home and collectivities, solar, wind, storage, green mobility, energy management and hybridisation of technologies (incl. digital and data management).
  • development of power & energy management systems (EMS), optimizing the operation of the energy system.

 

These projects are typically performed in collaboration with research or industrial partners and operational entities of ENGIE and in combination with Laborelec’s expertises (energy storage, renewable energy technologies, electric mobility smart charging, power network studies & measurements, cyber security, IT solutions, …)

YOUR CHALLENGE

 

  • Provide technical support during the construction phase to enhance efficiency and reduce extra work and costs.
  • Support operations and maintenance of large-scale renewable projects (wind turbines) to maximize power generation and asset availability, while optimizing O&M costs.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers during the Final Engineering phase and Cluster Managers for O&M projects, offering electrical expertise.
  • Assist Grid Experts in elevating technical expertise on renewable projects.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date technical specifications for electrical works in RES projects.
  • Challenge contractors technically during construction and perform regular site inspections with a punch list.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in electrical equipment and services.
  • Share practical experience and insights with project developers and purchasers to avoid rework, reduce CAPEX, improve quality and safety, and implement best practices.
  • Ensure personal and team safety, performing workplace inspections and providing feedback.

What You Can Expect

As the Project Development Advisor, you will lead the development activities for all ENGIE distributed solar and storage projects, guiding them from site control to Notice to Proceed (NTP) for greenfield sites, origination projects, and M&A initiatives throughout the United States.   • Facilitate strategic meetings with customers, landowners, and local/state/regional stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on project updates and solar market policies to customers, landowners, potential off-takers, government officials, and corporate supporters
  • Help create new tools and trackers to monitor development progress and manage data effectively

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Engineering, or related fields

Additional Details

Compensation

Salary Range: $113,900 – $174,570 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
